The guy from the Miller Lite advert is Jason Salkey, who was a regular in the Executive Club back in the 80's - until he got thrown out for allegedly pulling a knife on someone. Really surprising if that happened because he always came across as a nice bloke. Eastenders actors Chris McHallem (Rod) and Jonathan Stratt (Brad) went a lot back then too. I remember seeing Rod from Eastenders up at City in our great win up there in 1989. He was quite easy to spot as he was on the TV a fair bit at the time. He was walking right in front of us back in the long journey back to Piccadilly station.

He would have left the club before Umbro came onboard, or did the diamond appear on tracksuits before kits? When I was a wee lad and he’d moved on to QPR, I got a Dave Sexton coaching book one Xmas. Remember him saying that footballers had strong legs because of the running they did but neglected their upper bodies- he was an advocate of weight training and probably ahead of the game there. I think he was a bit of an amateur boxer- remember reading he offered out Ossie one time.
January 28, 20206 yr First shirt with a diamond on I think was the kit worn 75-77 I posted before about a documentary that was on tv a couple of years ago about players shirts and replica shirts. I sure it will be on YouTube, it was left to a group of women at admiral to come up with colours and trim. There are mentions of Umbro and Adidas, but you get an idea that around 1977 was when shirt manufacturers started putting their logos on shirts

Then again, it was on a Sunday and I’m sure a good few other London fans went over with their Chelsea mates for the day out- There was a bit of a loon West Ham pal in our group who started singing Hammers songs on his own on the tube until he got a pull. A lot of “ sleeper” CFC fans came out the woodwork as well- pay at the gate Wembley final- I’m not particularly into hoolie books but Micky Francis mentions in one of the few ones worth reading,- Governers that they were fighting for their lives against half of London in the Coach Park after. Cant remember much about the game itself. Bit of a tin pot final which no one was particularly fussed whether we won or not.

I've often thought if we got to a cup final before Wembley was all seated that it would have been an England- Scotland scenario with thousands of ticketless fans turning up.
January 30, 20206 yr Author Oldham game 1980 first time on the pitch for me and last as Chelsea players for Ron Harris and Tommy Langley. Sheffield Wednesday first game before the 4-4.
February 1, 20206 yr Author QPR 81 my favourite away game as a kid. Quite a few of us from school went mostly Chelsea a few QPR just a pity we had to wait till we went back to school to take the piss as they were nowhere to be seen after the game. Was this the year/season that weeeeest ham turned up in the West ,East stands and the shed with 3 different mobs all around the same time on end clearing sorties ? if so i was sat in the East stand and got mullered onto the deck inbetween the seats. this all happened about 1 hour before game started and hence to say all parts of ground was less than a 1/4 full. i recall watching the icf as they appeared on the far RH side of the West stand AS you look from eaststand ,and they just walked throu the stand in one long line throu the seats ,with what cfc that was in there jumping into the benches down below. There was hardly any cfc in the West stand tbh but it looked very impressive .Within a few mins a mob of Westham ( lots and lots of black chaps ) entered the East stand on the far RH side and it got a little messy in West hams favour from what i recall. Then within a few mins a mob of weeest ham was on the shed causing mayhem. i do recall making my way into that bar at the back of gate 13 after West ham had caused havoc and from what i recall West ham where at one side of the bar and chelsea on the other side asking West ham to drop their weapons ??? Cant really recall what happened after that as the Police was starting to Get the matter under controll. You have to take your hat off to the icf on what they did that day since IT was a result to them X 3 in my book ,despite the early time of saying ´ HELLO’

February 6, 20206 yr Author Grimsby great day first time for most of us seeing Chelsea win anything. My mate's mate drove us up and he had no interest in football and waited for us outside fair play to him.
