We've got a nice 5 days before this game, they play in London tomorrow evening.

We need to win to stay in touch, no way Leeds or Barcodes will get anything from Citeh and Dippers.

Here's the midweek fixtures.

Kova will be out of isolation right? If that is the case then we can hopefully give him the first half and Kante the second.

Also we need Trev back, we have missed him.

Mendy

Chalobah

Silva

Rudiger

James

Jorginho

Kovacic

Alonso

Ziyech

Lukaku

CHO

I think that the recent matches showed that it's going to be hard to keep up with Man City. Specially considering that we are going to play them without Mendy from what I understood...

This is a must win because Wolves will have a fresh Jimenez...

Wolves are showing they are a hard side to break down but have not been great offensively. I expect that one is low scoring. 0-0 or 1-0.

Everton won't be as forgiving as Leeds were. We need a much improved display or we will see...

The 2 days off training break will do us good. Then  it’s 6 games on a 2 per week cycle ending with, if we are still in it, what will be a must win against Liverpool. Never mind Mendy is azpi, Silva, Jorginho, kova and Kante that I worry about. And the younger guys get overworked compensating.

Lukaku to start this one, he had his issue with fitness and form, not going to get any better until he's playing. A cameo of either Kante or Kovacic be a bonus, the midfield is getting burned every game and the defence start to collapse with it. We got no excuse for this one, get the extra day of rest and we all know how Rafa will line up.

I would like to see Werner and Lukaku start with perhaps Mount or Ziyech on the right.

Want to see how the combination of Werners runs with Lukaku in the middle affect the oppositions defence.

Figuered we cannot defend anyways so may as well rest Silva and give Saul a run out eh?

We don't have a choice, play him 60 minutes then get on RLC that will be more fresh. Silva and Kovacic to be fully fit for Wolves which is a more dangerous fixture.

Home or not this is never an easy game.  We need to sort our midfield out, without Kante and Kovacic the back 3 have no protection hence the latest set of disastrous defending we have seen.  What is a surprise to me, is despite our apparent strength in depth those players coming in have been very poor, especially Saul and Barkley. RLC is still not living up to his promise despite the number of chances he has been given; I was hoping he would be a Ballack type player but he is so inconsistent when he should be dominating in midfield given his size.  I expect yet another nail biter and more dropped points unless we get that midfield sorted out.

Lukaku will have something to prove up against Everton so they will put two on him then if you play Werner he normally has two around him too to stop him getting behind the defence.

Realise their first touch is poor yet think for 70 mins worth trying to keep Everton on their toes and then bring on the better ball players from the bench if we are not ahead.

As much as I think Werner is more useful than people give him credit for him and Lukaku should never play at the same time.

We lose far too much from a technical point for view with both on.

Wonder if Richarlison is really injured or if Rafa is making excuses for subbing his star man.

Let's see if we have Chalobah available before we call Saul eh?

Fresh front 3 would do nicely imo

Ziyech/CP

Lukaku

CHO/CP

See if they spark, if they do let them face Wolves.

You know @Gol15 you may have a point here. We cou give extra rest to players who have had a hard load and have them come back for Friday,  hopefully well rested and refreshed.

Maybe the likes of:

Rudiger

Silva

Alonso

Jorginho

Havertz

Mount

Would mean a side like this for Everton. Hoping trev is fit.

Mendy

Dave

AC

Sarr

James

Chalobah

Barkley or Saul

Saul or Pulisic

Ziyech

Lukaku

One brave rotation for a more secure title run later on...

downside of resting too many is you lose and fall further behind. I think rotating 3 or so, 1 forward, one mid and 1 back is about it. James and and Jorginho and Mount are going to have to play until they drop. Chalobah might be able to play wing back at a push.Dave doesn't have the legs these days.

1 of rudigier, dave, silva and christenson can be rotated for every game until trev gets back and then silva and Jamescan get more rest. alonso and cho can rotate. you could play cho  or dave instead of reece but it costs the team a lot.

In midfield I can imagine kova and RLC but it doesn't fill me with joy, jorginho and kova and Jorginho and RLC is gunna be it unless Kante can get a couple of games in.

up front its ok, mount, puli, havertz werner and big rom is enough

You can play the nest you have a lose, like we did at West ham. Rotation like that does not mean we lose for sure.

While our options in midfield and the back are limited we do have 2 fully fit front 3s and one spare

Ziyech

Lukaku

CHO

Mount

Havertz

Pulisic

Werner

Means you may have to ask someone to suck it up and do the best job they can out of their main position. I mean we have tried CP and CHO as wingbacks, why not Werner, Ziyech or Mount there, would they be any worse? Or Havertz or Mount at the top of a diamond, altering the midfield slightly and having Jorginho or Chalobah sitting?

Is it ideal? Of course not in ideal is fully fit Kante, Kovacic and Chilwell. Does us not good if we put Jorgi, James, Silva etc out for months by pushing them too far for one game.

What @Gol15 and I am suggesting is yes we could risk losing to Everton, but we could also lose to them anyways and we are presented with a rare chance to rest players before the busy festive run really kicks off.

There's no easy match in this league, but this is probably the best time to play them, they are bad but not in the desperate relegation trouble to put everything on the line for this one game ( happened to us a lot in recent years). Mount will be in the front 3, the other 2 could be anyone, my money is on Lukaku and Werner

Pulisic is another it’s been tried with. Ziyech, mount, Werner? Not gunna happen.  None of them can defend worth a bean. No tactical sense of what’s required either. Useless at corners, couldn’t do the offside. Not gunna happen.

in any case the bigger worry is central midfield. anyone ever tells me kova isn’t a good player, I give you our recent form. Kante lifts us but A fit Jorge and a fit kova are essential to making this team work.
