We're already conceding over 2 goals a game.

Stevie needs to knuckle down and be better than one of our front three. If he has the talent this will happen. He may also get into the team through injury.

If he wants to play more he would have to join a team with a weaker attack. Is that such a good career move for him? Where would he go? He just needs to work hard and force his way into the team. I think Alonso will play him at some point. He just needs to be patient.

He will start and earn more at Liverpool & Utd for starters.

Now that the transfer window has closed and Chelsea have lost their first match it’s open season for these journalists.

From Estevao’s point of view he can stake his claim against Leeds tomorrow.

Slow news week.

Will he, based on what exactly? Are you really claiming young players dont get a chance at Chelsea, considering the average age of our squad the past 2 years?

No way he would get a start at Liverpool. United maybe, but they need to strengthen their defence before they think about attackers.

He would most definitely start for Liverpool. They have that Muñoz lad currently playing RW.

Munoz has been one of their best attackers so far, he has 2 man of the matches for them.

Yep, Munoz has started well and now they have Barcola, Gapko can switch to the right too.

Estevao would spend as much time on their bench as he currently does on ours, where he would keep Ngumoha company (also doesn't get much game time for one tipped to be the next big thing).

That's not saying much. Liverpool have been tragic.

They are currently shuffling between Rio, Munoz, and Gakpo on who can play RW. Estevao would be clear of them.

Think you need to remove those blue-tinted glasses!

Not saying Estevao isn't going to be better than all of them eventually, but right now he is very inconsistent and wouldn't start ahead of a player like Gakpo.

I call a spade a spade.

Some Osasuna left winger nobody has ever heard of is starting over arguably the most exciting young right winger on the planet not named Lamal.

I suggest you read how Liverpool fans feel about Gakpo by the way.

The Liverpool fans don't pick the team, the manager does and he'll always go for the player with good PL experience rather than a lad with potential.

They probably view Gakpo the same way we used to view Willan and Pedro. Gapko is no Salah just as Willan and Pedro were no Hazard.

I'm excited about Estevao and have been since before he even arrived, but he has to earn his place in the team and do a lot more than he has done to date when he does get selected. If he's as good as we all hope he is, his time will come.

Slightly off subject....Liverpool fans believe they are some of the most knowledgeable supporters on the planet, also that there is nothing quite like a European night at Anfield. Both of those two comments are utter tosh of course.

If he was a Liverpool player he absolutely would start for them. Hype alone would warrant multiple chances over their other options, nevermind ability.

2 games into a new season under a new manager after coming back from a really bad injury?

I think people are really trying to create drama where ther isnt any.

Let's hope he doesn't turn out to be yet another player who is just that.

The kid looks a talent, no doubt about it and I would rather see him in the starting line up than Neto for majority of games. But some folk do seem to be getting rather carried away on what to date, has only been a handful of good performances.

I was speaking in general. Wasn't really following the discussion at hand if that was the stipulation

Too talented for that to be the case in my view, he will be a success even if that's not with us.

I think it's more Estevao at his worse is still a better option than Neto rather than people getting carried away but no doubt that applies to some.

I mean, it does help...

Who's the Osasuna left winger?

Pato was the most talented player to come out of South America since Aguero/Messi/Di Maria and his desire to force himself to play through injuries ruined his career in his early 20s. If Estevao wants to go and ruin himself over a few missed games, nothing the club can or should do about that.

Tbf Estevao will be 20 next year so time is ticking from Clearlake's perspective. Grandpas Palmer (24) and Rogers (23) aren't going to be around forever you know.

I think it’s clear what Alonso wants to do imo. Until this team defends as a unit effectively I think we will continue to see 5 at the back.

Are you sure this is his thinking? You don’t go out and spend €55m on a wingback that can’t defend + boost his wages from £4K/w to £150k/w if it’s a temporary fix.

Palestra? I'd imagine that, to compensate for his attacking instincts, the LB would shift in as LCB, a role that would suit Hato.

It's the very thing Arteta did when he arrived at Arsenal. He had to sort out the defensive shape before he could really coach the team.
