Posted February 5Feb 5 So Nottingham Forest rejected a deadline day offer from Chelsea for Murillo. Do we think we are going to go back in for him in the summer? Supposed to be by far Forests record sale which is currently £47.5m. I'm guessing £60-70 million. I honestly like the idea of this signing - proven to be able to hack the Premiership has that Brazilian flair whilst still having a bit of fight in him. Can't think of many defenders that would be a better fit that would be potentially available in the summer.
February 5Feb 5 Why would they sell him ? They are a club on an upwards trajectory, with an ambitious, passionate and well-funded owner. They are not going to sell their best players.

February 5Feb 5 There’s absolutely 0 reason for Forest to sell and looking at League position, they’re more likely to have higher level European competition than us next season. Couple with the fact Forests owner is one of the best in the League (passion not business) this seems a non starter to me.
February 5Feb 5 Well. Have you been to Nottingham? Yes, Forrest are doing well right now. But IF Chelsea finish top 4 and Forrest do not and the player gets to decide where he wants to be. Well anybody in their right mind would choose London over Nottingham. And maybe we should take their manager as well? [stranger things have happened at this club]. Left sided CB. Murillo has not played for Brazil yet - but has been included in the squad and his Brazil debut will be soon. Murillo is a solid player - not the tallest CB. Athletic and fast. Our two greatest needs are GK and CB imho - he is worth considering, although i would prefer a CB with a bit more experience.

As you say Forest are doing well but one season in Europe doesn't necessarily trump playing for a big club. The guy may want to emulate David Luiz play for a club with some prestige probably get paid more. Don't think it's against the realms of possibility for it to happen but we are going to have to spend big money to convince Forest to sell and hope none of the other big clubs jump in for him.
February 6Feb 6 Forest have gone all in on a few seasons to get ahead of the PSR nonsense, they will have to sell like Villa did this season. Its utterly shambolic that this is now the system in place to protect the "big" teams.
February 6Feb 6 Forest will be fine in Summer, they sold Brennan Johnson that covered their PSR shortfall and had a net spend of about -£45m this year. CL money coming in and a load of nobodies they can shift for £5m a pop. We either pay a WR fee or he holds out for Madrid/Barca imo.
February 6Feb 6 It's still way to early to label Forest as Champions League gurantees. Only 6 points behind 5th. Has anyone actually watched Murillo to indefinitely say he fits us? Forrest play a very low block.

Towards the latter stages of the season will test their mettle. They may well easily finish below us, City and Newcastle. It would be a magnificent achievement, but no way signed and sealed. Murilo is brilliant. I think he has everything. Robust, fast, brilliant passer. reads the game well and I defo think his style of play is suited to any defensive line. Only thing is if we were to sign him, he plays same position as Colwill and is left-footed.

We will always need at least 3 top CBs to challenge for anything. 2. The way we play under Maresca, in theory it would shift Colwill to RCB where on the ball it would be a back 3 of James Colwill Murillo

Not really developing fast enough for this lot's lack of patience in their own "project", and hence their pure profit radar must be tingling like crazy ...

I think if the points difference remains the same after this period, they will get Champions League football. They have us on the last day of the season, this could be a massive game.

They lost the reverse fixture in each of their next 4 games (add Fulham to clubs you mentioned) so big test for Forest coming up for sure !

I'll admit to not watching him a whole lot, but from what I remember he doesn't seem to be the most physically imposing? This is something we desperately need throughout the team so we can't really get away with central defenders who share that weakness. (Colwill is enough) Other than that he seems to be a brilliant player, though

Just trying to determine if he’s stocky or just fat. At times he has the physique of a retired footballer who’s let himself go playing in a legends charity match.

You rarely see a striker get the better of him in a one on one. I think he has the whole package.
February 10Feb 10 Rate him highly. Need I say more than he reminds me a bit of Thiago. Long way to go to reach those heights but he’d be the best defender at the club if he signed. We’ve enquired about him the last 3 windows.
February 18Feb 18 One of the things that excited me about him is that he is the best defender in an actually defensive team. We're not talking about some Bundesliga rube with a highlight reel of long passes and mazy dribbles, rarely troubled in a team with 90% possession.Murillo is actually defending and leading his team in doing so.

Terry in 2006 and 2010 showed he can play in a higher line than most people took him credit for.

Far more protection, deeper and plenty more men back to defend in a unit.
