Paris Saint-Germain vs Chelsea (UCL) Wednesday 11th March 20:00 GMT

We'll be almost as well rested as PSG.

I think the team will be :

Jorgensen

James, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella

Santos, Caicedo

Estevao, Palmer, Fernandez

Joao Pedro

Cucurella played about an hour vs Wrexham. Joao Pedro about 40 minutes, and Andrey Santos played the whole game. Everyone else has had the weekend off. Possible that we might start James in midfield, in which case Gusto comes in at right back (another one who played 40 minutes at Wrexham)

The hour Cucurella got may not be so bad seeing as he has been out with injury, it gives him some match practice. Santos isn't helping himself though, he's gone from looking like a bright spark to a nothing player recently, he may not get picked.

Two things that may count in his favour

  1. The manager likes him

  2. Santos has good knowledge of playing against PSG from his Strasbourg days.

yes, and it's 21-year-old factor; it can't be helped. I think he's still a very promising (very) young player, who is playing in a position and role that demands a certain knowhow. His form will vary wildly and that's just part of the package. For me though, he needs to do a bit better in the final third.

It's going to be a big test for Rosenior because these big clashes are very tactical and Maresca has done well against PSG before; yes, I know it's different circumstances, but I hardly thing PSG wanted to lose or that they were happy with their performance against us at the WCC.

I think what we did, and did not do, tonight let's us know what to expect for the PSG line up:

Jorgensen/Sanchez

Gusto

Fofana

Chalobah

Cucurella

Caicedo

James

Palmer

Enzo

Neto

Joao Pedro

Not sure what he does with the keepers.

Rest seems likely with Andrey and Garnacho playing the whole extra time.

It's close to a week of rest, I have no idea why Santos will be "tired"

Lavia-Caicedo or Enzo-Caicedo is the midfield pairing with Garnacho and Palmer on the wings with Estevao getting a free role to swap around with Palmer

Should, in theory, be prime Garnacho territory. PSG's defence has never been their strength with a high line and wing backs ploughing forward. Lately they've been ropier than usual. Speed, getting in behind them, is the order of the day.

So are UEFA going to punish PSG/Ligue 1 for allowing them o have their weekend game postponed so they can "rest" for the second leg against us? Or is it because their name isn't Chelsea Football Club so they'll sweep it under the rug?

I recall the PL rescheduling a game for the same reason. Can't remember which team.

Incredibly harsh, can't remember a bad game he's had

Did we get punished for this before?

GK

James Fofana Chalobah Cucurella

Lavia Caicedo

Palmer Enzo Estevao

J.Pedro

Not sure who goes in net at this point. Sanchez's form has dropped off a cliff and Jorgensen is Jorgensen.

Gusto probably has a shout to start after his importance last time, but Reece is just all round better. I imagine Enrique will have seen the issues Gusto caused and that will be the first thing he'll counter this time.

Lavia or Santos, take your pick. Santos probably needs a rest but he's got experience against PSG so who knows.

Enzo is undroppable for some reason, then Palmer picks himself. I would play Garnacho but he's played a lot of minutes recently, so hopefully Estevao is fit. Anyone but Neto really.

Dont think Estevao will start, maybe on the bench, he will pick his pet project that is NETO

WHY?

UEFA HAVE NO JURISDICTION OVER THE FRENCH LEAGUE, THE PL COULD CANCEL OUR GAME AGAINST NEWCASTLE IF THEY WANTED, BUT THEY DONT GIVE A TOSS ABOUT ANY ENGLISH CLUB, REMEMBER THE GAME IS ON SKY/TNT AND THEY RUN THE PL

He just played a bad game against Wrexham. He's starting to play too safe. This is the point I was making the other day when I said that too many players in this squad are happy being just another player. These players need to step up and be the difference maker, stop waiting for somebody else to do it.

We need to be confident about this tie. They are missing some of their best players in Dembele, Ruiz and Joao Neves and have not been at the same level as last season. Not even close to that. Still, they are probably one of the best home teams in the UCL for the past 15 years. A good result here and a win against Newcastle at the week-end would be massive for our confidence.

When does this extended ban start? Is he still able to play in the CL?

Why would they get punished for it? UEFA has repeatedly encouraged the PL to do so when PL clubs have requested it, its the PL and their broadcast partners who steadfastly refuse.
