On MOTD they slowed it down from another angle (from the dugout camera) and it was 99% proven it didnt touch his arm as the ball did not move a smither as it passed Ashleys left arm, NOT A SMITHER!

It was a decision that ref's give in the last minute to even up a 3 player sending off !

Now both mangers take something and the ref is saved !

But Ashley was very very unlucky to be sent off.

yep, totally agree... boos were aimed at the officials from where I was sat.

Yeah the boos for the ref... which I think the only decision he got wrong was the last penalty, which no one in the ground could have said yes or no to... but in the words of the great JT after The Poo semi final.... "if you don't see it don't give it"

Got to say that Martin O'neil is a prat of the hightest order ! Pathetic interview. All decisions were clear cut except the Ashley one !

The interesting thing about the booing when Cole went off was that it wasn't a particularly surprising or unjustified change. It was almost as if people were just waiting for an excuse to have a go. Similarly when Ballack went off. It was clear that he had run out of steam and should have been subbed quite a lot earlier. But as soon as his number went up the chants of "you don't know what you're doing" started up.

I do think that Grant lost the plot after Newcastle scored. It was obvious we needed to bring on Sidwell for Ballack to try and get control of the game back but instead he did nothing and then brought on Pizarro for Cole.

In the end we got very lucky, but the warning signs are there for all to see.

But yesterdays boo's (on the whole) were for a totally different reason to last weeks boo's against Villa. Last week they were almost entirley aimed at the ref/linesman.

Maybe it's my memory playing me tricks - it wouldn't be the first time by any means - but I'm sure that back in the old days, i.e. when the Shed was the Shed. your average player wasn't a millionaire, and we were (mostly) crap, but I really don't remember us booing our own players and management, personal abuse maybe but that was very different from the hate filled hysteria that seems to be more the norm nowadays. Any actual hatred would be reserved for the opposition, which is where it well and truly belongs.

There seems to be an all too prevalant attitude these days, I'm guessing among newer match-goers, something along the lines of "We hate you and we reserve the right to boo you because you don't fulfill our expectations". Tell me if I'm wrong about this, please do.

Even then, the fans still gave him credit where it was due - he was one of the best left-wingers I've seen at Chelsea. Then one day he must have got frustrated, went into a tackle and left his opponent wondering what hit him - thus was born the immortal song, "Tiger, Tiger Houseman, Tiger Houseman on the wing!"
