Kalou & Bosingwa to leave + 4 new deals

... that is according to Chelsea Rumours and Rob Beasley on Twitter:

Also, Bozzy & Kalou look to be leaving, yes. #CFC

Three out at Chelsea - drog and 2 others! Guess the other two?

Ok that cfc test was too easy - ur nearly all right. Kalou and Bosingwa. But which four getting new deals?

Hmmm... Any thoughts? I have no idea how long Cech has left but if it's less than two years I've reckon he would be one of them, perhaps Branna too? Interesting.

Yes I know they're Twitter rumours.

I believe Ashleys contract ends next summer, he'll be 32 but he looks got a couple of years left in him and he probably won't be playing week in week out. Sturridge's is also up in 2013 so he will probably get a new contract. Bertrand could well have his wages inproved. With Obi being only 25 with 2 years left I could see him getting a new contract.

Got the contract lengths from that link so they could well be complete crap.

So it looks like Drogba, Kalou, Bosingwa and two others are leaving, or just Drogba, Kalou and Bosingwa? Malouda should be bankers, wouldn't cry out loud if Essien or/and Meireles were to leave as well.

And does Marin count as one of the four signings? Don't think we can afford four new players with FFP, and I don't think we need it either. Will be happy if we were to sign two wingers or one winger and one midfield player and integrate two or three players from our academy in the A-squad.

Ah, new deals... THAT. I don't know.

Would have kept hold of Kalou personally. He's clearly not as explosive as Ramires, but his strengths as a 'defensive winger' were a key part of our defensive success in the Champions League. Still a good bench player. Also does this mean Malouda isn't leaving? I think Kalou has far more left to give us (not to say Malouda hasn't given us a lot) than he does.

Bosingwa clearly has his off days, but I think he would still be good backup. If we're getting a replacement in then I can understand why he might be let go though.

I agree with all this. If Kalou were to demand a regular starting spot, then let him go. But as a super sub and spot starter, I think he's still a very valuable piece to have on the roster.

Why are we allowing players to leave for free? I'm sure we could get some money for Drogba, Bosingwa and Kalou. With FFP rules coming and the fact that it seems like we are trying to change things in the squad we really do need all the money we can get.

If we keep getting nothing for players leaving and loads on new players we will be in deep s*it.

By the way, does anyone know where I can find a list of all the players and when their contract ends?

They're out of contract! So nothing we can do other than offer them new terms if we see fit too.

4 will get new deals then?

I believe Lamps has a deal that runs out next summer, so he could be one though his wages might make that tricky. Bertrand is now a first team squad regular so would expect him to get a new deal. Mata might be due a new deal and wage rise based on our success. So will guess him and maybe Brana?

Kalou , Bosingwa are going and i expect Malouda and Benayoun to leave after the Euro's. That's their wages out the was , make room for better players. What about Ferriera , he's a good back up player but does he really want to play out the rest of his career on the bench ?

Brilliant news if true. Shows me RDM is on exactly the right track if he had a hand in this decision.

As for those saying keep Kalou, dear me. You should really know better.

I know they're out of contract, but why did we let it come to that? We could easily have extended those players contracts so as to get something for them this summer.

And I'm sure I've heard about players signing a new contract just before their old one runs out so that the club will be able to sell them, even if it's just a few weeks later.

Pretty certain Malouda will be heading back to France, I think I want him gone ahead of Bossy and Kalou, but I won't be losing sleep on losing any of them.

In an ideal world you'd that, but unless the player is willing to lower his wages it can end up biting you in the arse where you're stuck with a player no other club can afford and you will have to pay his wages (see J.Cole at the dippers or us loaning at sheva and crespo)

not signing a new contract makes it far easier for them to sign for a new club. if they are free agents they have more choices where to continue their careers and also clubs are able to offer better contracts since they wont have to spend on the transfer itself

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

so you are asking about something that is obvious to you? you got split personality or something?

Say it aint so... http://www.dailymail...o=feeds-newsxml

Says both Malouda and Essien to be given new, long term deals...why they have been dross whenever they have played this season...

Why give Lamps a wage rise as well at 33? We expect him to be a 175k player at 36/37?

I sincerely hope that's nonsense. Those would be nightmare moves, absolutely nonsensical.

He's questioning why WE are allowing some talented players to just walk away when we could be cashing in on them with transfers by simply extending their contract.

Moos, we're not strapped for cash. Winning the CL this year brought in some astronomical money. We were well within the FFP regulations before that anyway.

Extending a player that we don't want to stick around solely in order to get a transfer fee seems like an awful idea to me.

First, you're taking for granted that you actually can sell the player. If you extend their contract and find that there isn't much of a market for them, then you could be stuck with them. Second, you don't have a ton of leverage if it's known that you're only extending them to sell them and so I can't imagine the transfer fees would be very large. Third, you're assuming that a player would want to extend their contract, when it seems counterproductive from their standpoint as they'd be giving up a lot of leverage in terms of demanding wages. A lot of players who change teams on free transfers end up getting very high wages because they can pit teams against each other and because there's no fee involved, there can be a lot of competition.
