Think we’re all still w**king over that 2021 Reece James with him and Chilwell causing absolute havoc as wing backs. This season had me questioning and the World Cup has just backed it up unfortunately, his body cannot do it anymore. He’s lost a yard of pace, his confidence appears shot and he’s just not the same player. The Reece James of old would’ve been bombing up and down that touchline, this one seems to look sideways/backwards for the easy pass as his first option. As has been said before, he’s probably the best Cobham has ever produced, he’s just absolutely riddled and can’t play a full intensity season anymore. Maybe a move into midfield is the answer? But even then he just appears so much slower than a Caicedo. We’ll see, give him this season under a proper manager but if it’s a game every other week and slow in possession again then a move to a warmer climate and less demanding league might be on the table.

Not one to defend the SD’s but the sale of Cucu isn’t something we should be lamenting. He’s an OK LB, nothing special, over the course of a full PL season I think we’d all admit his errors and lack of positional awareness outweigh his Hollywood moments. He’s a YT Highlight player, not a serious footballer. We looked a lot better toward the end of the year with Hato at LB, whose trajectory is on the increase as opposed to Cucu who is already at his peak. The sale isn’t an issue. What is an issue is if we go and spend the same amount on an inferior player who isn’t PL proven (see Pep Chavvario)

He belongs in midfield. Just as Bayern did with Lahm then Kimmich, or Inter did with Zanetti.

So BlueCo to sell a European champion, World Cup finalist Spanish full back and replace him with a B rated unheard of Spanish full back that isn't even an international for roughly the same money. So BlueCo, can easily see this happening now. These are the deals they are good at, the ridiculous pull your pants down deals.

I thought it will be so fun to watch… Jamee played nothing like himself. I think based on the World Cup it’s time for England to start looking for a replacement.

For the most part this is true though? Argentina and Spain always bring through groups of players that played at youth and Olympic level, and have being doing so since the 1980s. England have had a great run of producing talent but it has come at the cost of other, possibly better talents. Forget Musiala, England could have started Semenyo and Olise (both born in West London FFS) instead of Gordon and Madueke. France and Spain have rarely lost a starting-quality player to heritage countries - can only think of Laporte for France, and Hakimi for Spain.

In case it needed to be said, Romano is an idiot. "Five-year contract" ...players under 20 can only sign a 3 year deal. The other two years are either an option or unenforceable. Makes him pretty damn expensive in PSR terms, 3m/season + wages. Yikes.

Among our cb, Chalobah played the most min in pl for us last season yet he is the one that get sold. This is as expected though because we have to sell. I am glad that I don't read nonsense that we have to sell because of tactic, player profile, quality. Same with Santos, look at the book value, look at how much you think you can get for him in the market. That is the reason.

If the club had any plans to sign him this summer I hope they stay well clear.
