I think this is unfair to Batsuayi.
He actually had some good first touches and linkup play upfront. I will say he was decent today.

Agreed. I will definitely be appreciative when he leaves.
Top defenders don't make the basic mistakes he makes. And certainly not on such a regular basis.

Stick Kante wherever you want on the pitch, he ain't gonna flourish in a team that is holding 80% possession. The only way Kante goes back to being the best in the world is if we sit back, invite pressure, and play on the counter attack. I personally would rather not go back to that.

Have just about got over the disappointment from Saturday, so I've been catching up with everyone's views/thoughts on the game. Obviously, we had a shocker. We were way off the pace in every department and deserved to lose - it didn't help that we had to play against 12 men though, the ref was shocking.
I knew there would be a lot of talk about the Kante/Jorginho positions, but I actually thought Kante was our best outfield player. Kepa was our MOM. Jorginho got absolutely ruined for pace against Son, but that doesn't mean that he should be swapped for Kante, far from it. Sarri's style is to defend as a team in a block which in theory should restrict the space our opponents have between the lines (similar to city). To do this you need to be brave and play with a very high line as the defenders need to be as close to the midfield as possible. This completely went out of the window against spurs. Our defense was pushed way too deep by Kane and Son, then they'd both drop deep to pick up the ball unopposed and in acres off space and allowed to run at our back-line.  When this happens you're in trouble. This happened countless times, it was painful viewing. I don't think there's a problem with Sarri's tactics, it's just the players didn't follow them. we are however still getting used to this system. It seems our default way of defending is to drop deep (which creates the space between the midfield and defense), rather than press forward in a line and try and catch their attackers offside. I'm sure that Sarri is working on this.
Sarri said when he joined Napoli that he might lose his first 10 games of the season, but then things would start to improve. We've been lucky that we've managed a very good start whilst trying to change our whole playing philosophy, but I personally believe that you can only fully learn a new style and improve once you've made mistakes and suffered defeats. Saturday was a learning curve - I'm backing our players to step up to the challenge and improve a lot over the next couple of months.

Also people saying we should change system after this result, so we change after every bad results or try fix the current system?

I remember Gary Neville making this statement that when pep suffered in his first season he never changed his system once he stuck to his principles and that exactly what I want Sarri to do. We are changing from what 12+ years of being a pragmatic team to all out possession based attacking team. One defeat shouldn't make you abandon your principles and am sure it won't with Sarri.

We will get battered again this season that's what changing system does we will however continue to improve and get better and with the right additions we will achieve our goals

I'm a big Fabregas fan, but he would suffer a lot worse than Jorginho does when put under pressure. Fabregas is incredibly slow to react when pressured, more now than ever now that he is getting older. I also don't believe Fabregas has better one touch passing either, Jorginho is a master at it, and one bad game yesterday isn't going to make me think any differently. Also, Fabregas doesn't have the legs to cope long term in that position. Fabregas is easy to play through, one pass through Fabregas and it he is out of the game and the defence is exposed.

Jorginho is not the problem it's the player's around him not fulfilling the requirements of the system to offer him options. When he gets on the ball in the last few games player's are not offering any movement they are running away from the ball not towards it, no pass and move to create space to nullify the press. Look at how Napoli played when they got the ball jorginho had options they would pass the ball in short triangle to beat the press we are not doing that the player's seem scared, afriad Conte mentioned this several times they seem scared. Also player's showed no fight no grit no passion like it was just another game yesterday, there comes a time when we need to start changing the sqaud slowly. Unfortunately we can't spend like city so we will have to do something different

Because as soon as he does play them and neither play well, people start saying "Morata and Willian should have started instead" the simple truth is, only Pedro is suited to the style and good enough to be in the team. Morata and Giroud are inconsistent at the best of times, and Willian is just a massive let down.

Barkley made the run at the last minute and Willian gave it him instead of going central, he took the easy option. At the end of the day its up to Willian to see Hazard completely open and make the pass regardless of what Barkley does.

You make a lot of good points, but, given that we won, "needed" and "a bit earlier" is patently incorrect.
For your aesthetic pleasure it might have been nice, but, to win the cup, obviously not.

But Drinkwater was an important piece for a title winning Leicester side and made the England side who played at the Euros so that doesnt fit your argument bow dies it? Im not saying Zaha is a great player or that I even want him. But saying we shouldnt buy him because he hadnt won anything or saying he shouldnt replace someone whos won the lot is stupid.

The 5th best team in England. No champions league.
It won't elevate his profile, he would be less likely to win titles, he's at arguably a bigger club currently and his future is brighter than Chelsea if he has a good season in CL.
I understand very good players making the switch when the opportunity is there, but dybala is bigger than that. He would go to a Madrid PSG or Barca.
Plus we are never going to spend 150m on one player.

It's not just his lack of physicality and speed. I do appreciate his Hollywood passes, but with those Hollywood passes comes very bad passing in between, the kind of passing you cant afford in his position on the pitch, the kind that has your whole team turning around and running backwards, he's made plenty of them as well.

No, that's NOT the difference. The difference is, we can't spend what City can. If we could, our squad wouldn't cost 250m less. Forget Barkley, he's a nobody and isn't worth much. We didn't get Sandro because we weren't willing to make the kind of an offer Juventus couldn't refuse. PSG proved this past summer that you can get almost any player, if your offer is big enough. I'm not saying Sandro's worth that sort of money or that he was going to be a guaranteed success, but we could have gotten him, if we offered enough. More or less the same story with Pogba, Stones or any other big money target we were after last few years and were unable to land. We had to walk away time and again or play waiting game like with Lukaku, because we don't throw money around anymore like we used to back in 2003 and because now there's such thing as FFP.
People like to criticize Marina and I'm sure she's made her share of mistakes, but there's only so much great negotiating you can do when at least three clubs out there can outspend you easily and two of them are playing in your own league.

Yep, nothing has changed with Willian. Will pop up with an important goal every now and again (like the recent one at Liverpool) and that will keep him in everyone's good books and a stay of execution for a few weeks whilst he then reverts to his frustrating ways until the next good thing he does.
Like him as a squad option but to be honest he hasn't improved since day one so wouldn't be sorry to see him go and we look to upgrade.

good response by someone on there though:
"I think the whole European football thing is overblown, I'm not expecting Chelsea to win it next season, but I don't think we're going to be embarrassed or anything. Just looking at yesterday Arsenal got a huge head start with a goal that should've been disallowed, and in the second half when Chelsea were getting back into the game Moses made an unbelievably stupid decision that got him sent off. Two huge moments that Conte could do little about, though the fact that Arsenal were looking so much more motivated and desperate for the win yesterday could be put at Conte's feet, but on the other hand circumstances around both teams make it sort of understandable.
As for his European campaigns with Juventus, of which there were only two, his first year he lost in the Quarter Finals to eventual winners Bayern Munich having topped the group against Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk, and that was a f**king amazing Bayern team. Second season I can see why you can criticise, on paper Juventus should definitely have qualified out of the group as second place to Real Madrid. Contextually though the game that decided the group against Galatasaray was played under very odd circumstances, with it being originally called off after 30 minutes due to snow, and continued from that point the following day on this pitch. I dont think this totally excuses Conte, but it adds a bit of context, ultimately people are judging him in Europe off of a very small sample size though where I really don't think he's done that poorly as people make out.
Perhaps it's just the comparison of the fact he's won 4/4 league titles in his last 4 seasons so the expectation on him is super high to live up to that sort of winning record in Europe. Winning in Europe can be tough when you aren't at one of the three super clubs, and even at them (Guardiola Bayern, Mourinho Real Madrid), and worth looking at Ferguson with Man United. Took him 7-8 years to finally win the Champions League after his first Premier League title win, and then another 9 years after that to win a second one, and you could say both wins were by the skin of his teeth.
To sum up I basically think people are too eager to jump on Conte and say that he's sh*t in Europe."

I don't think so. He made quite a bad decision yesterday which was probably the only real defensive error anyone made for us but aside from that he was as good as anyone on the pitch.
I don't think anyone is or should expect him to be perfect. So long as he carries on playing with this level of discipline then no fair observer can ask for more from him.
We're obviously still going to concede goals from azpilicueta being short, Luiz going tight at the wrong time and cahill being beaten in individual match ups.  So long as they continue to function as a unit which compensates for individual weaknesses we can be happy.

Hard to phrase this without sounding like I'm completely slagging him off but I just don't think he's a very intelligent player.
In terms of technical ability he's very good but he just doesn't know how to apply his skill set.
He too often slows down play because he's not very instinctive, you rarely see him beat an offside trap because he doesn't know how to time a run beyond the last man, he just waits for ball to feet all the time.
For an attacking player, especially one that takes so many set pieces, he just doesn't score or assist enough goals for me.

As it stands i just don't see Matic getting back to what he was. He's been found out badly, his biggest weakness is that he is so one footed, one of the most one footed players i have seen to be honest and the opposition have caught on to this. Then there is all of the other problems like controlling the ball when going forward, his decision making and how long it's taking him to release the ball.

I just don't think he will get back to how he was in his first season and a half with us.

    Blaming Emenalo ?

Hmm, not for me. Cetainly agree with some of the comments about recent signings and sales but even if Jose doesnt have the players he wants he still should be able to manage what he has got out there, this is after all the current League champions we are talking about here...Hardly a ramshackle Sunday league team. Not that you can tell the difference at the moment...

Currently our players players performance level, and attitude is awful. The tactics and squad managerment are awful. These factors arent down to Emenalo event if he controls who comes in and out the club. Jose needs to manage what he has got, he is prob the highest paid manager in world football and he needs to do his job.
