I'll be honest if there wasn't a CL place up for grabs I wouldn't careless if Liverpool won the Europa. The fact that there is worries me. They win and they are a more attractive club to join in the summer than us. I just hope players see through our poor season. Let's hope Sevilla bring their A game in the final!

I think he deserves another chance. Maybe as a squad player next season , Sell Mikel and keep Matic (if he wants to stay). Hopefully he will have something to prove...

Good thread which has got me to post for once. I think one of the main issue is the players , As you said in your first post we could relate to the likes of JT , Lampard etc as we knew they would fight 100% for the club and we could count on them to get us through the touch patches. Having them around and others from that era made you proud as a Chelsea fan and made you look forward to games knowing we always had a chance. When you have players , like Fabregas , Oscar , Pedro etc it makes us all pine for players like Essien , Drogba , Cech etc. I am not saying they are bad players they are just not what i call Chelsea players. We now seem to enter big games with the underdog status which is what i would like to think is something Roman and the board is unhappy with. The main issue is we haven't progressed maybe it was the conflict in style choices from Roman wanting attacking football and not getting the right mix with the players and managers. I have been reading Drogba's new book and you can see from his words the unity and belief that era of players had and how they wanted to win everything in a Chelsea shirt , the fact that Lampard was one of the sole reasons Drogba stayed says alot. I am extremely happy that it was in my lifetime we saw this group of players. Nowadays i have lower expectations but still hope for us to do well. Missing out on the CL won't stop me watching games or not caring as much but i do feel we have been spoilt over the last few years so we kind of now expect CL football and to be challenging for the PL every year. All i want is a team that trys and i will be happy its when you can tell they don't care when it gets to me.

I don't want to come across as a doom monger but I just feel this PSG team are a lot stronger than Napoli and things repeating themeselves is rare.

People mention the Napoli game but PSG have better players and a better manager and we also have no Drogba. I just can't see PSG not scoring they have to much quality I'm not being pessimistic just realistic we where bad in the Second half tonight and deserved to loose I'm afraid.

You have to give Torres his due for being one player to help us win a trophy last season far from the player he was but can be useful at times. Sheva just reminds us all Of the first big name flop I'm afraid. If this thread is not limited to strikers then I would say swp was our biggest flop.

City's stars are purely for decoration. it says that here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_City_F.C. As they had the 3 stars last season and they only had 2 league trophy's.

Completely agree , i could never get myself to fully appreciate what Anelka did. Mainly because he never looked interested even when we won the PL he just kind of smirked. As for Alex I think he would of been good to have around when we had our CB crisis. But for me they moved on at the right time.

Didn't do great here , but i wanted him to suceed. I think he will do well at Spurs but hopefully not at the exspense of us. I love how many spuds fans think he is there saviour. There are so many excuses for him doing so badly here. maybe he just wasnt up to it. Time will tell if he has learned his lessons.

His a decent backup at best. its a shame how he has declined due to these injurys. His future will be decided by the players incoming.

Maybe controversial but if it was me , i would accept a half decent bid for JT. Lets face it he isn't getting any younger and it remove some bad publicity around the Club. The one downside would be his leadership qualities.

To think I was down when drogba left. It will be a hell of a day when he leaves. Legend he will have a statue one day!

Hi I have been a long time lurker here and have posted a handful of times. but have now decided to formally intoduce myself. I have been a Chelsea fan since 96 , my grandad was a Chelsea fan which lead to my Dad being one which lead to me :) i used to be a season ticket holder in 2000 and 2001 but we moved to the midlands in 2002 due to my Dad's career so i havent been able to get down to the bridge as much as i would like to. But that does not mean i don't support the team with passion :)

After Calming down a little. We played really well, except the offside goal and the defensive howler we were the better team. The stats show that. Nani's goal was something we could not stop though we gave him far too much room. had rammy scored and made it 1-1 we would have seen a different game. we also saw two sides of Torres Today, the goal he scored was sublime then the easier chance he had he missed. though the Media will be all over united saying they are the best team in the world etc. I can honestly say from this game we look like a threat we were the better team but unfortunately the result is all that matters. Though i love the fact AVB goes to Old Trafford and plays football instead of defending all game. I think we have no chance of winning the league this season and i hope we finish in the top 4 , but Mata is a god send. Keep the Faith , we were VERY unlucky.

The Modric Deal is looking less likely by the day , surely we have some sort of back up plan ? why not a cheeky bid for sneijder?

Poor result and poor performance after the first half you could see this coming. The most annoying thing is this is the press's wet dream and we will be hearing about this for weeks. Top 4 is our only aim for the league this season and hope for some luck on the cl and fa cup.
