This is why I like him in that midfield. I see Chelsea midfielders get bullied and with Barkley and Loftus Cheek, you know they'll hold their own at least if they're not the ones doing the bullying - plus they're both technically very good.

One thing Barkley brings over all our mids is physicality, he's a unit and can dish it out when needed, so maybe we shouldn't have been surprised when he was picked yesterday against one of the most physical teams in the league. Horses for courses. 

Who the hell regards Duff and Cole legends? Both better players than Willian and all 3 are not legends.

Will always be one of my all-times favourite CFC players, along with Wee Pat, Eidur, Zola and Hazard.
 

Hope Frank is able to give him games. Would love to see him as a regular starter. Now he is brought in for impact. Such a bright talent.

Lots of good performances, Reece etc... but got to give a mention to Barkley today, was the player we see for England.
 

We have the 'what League position so you expect' thread, but what would you see as as a decent season for Lampard and the current set of players.
In other words, what would keep you from grumbling?(!)
For myself:
As long as the younger players are given a chance to shine and there is some good attacking football played, I wouldn't mind so much what happens even if it's sixth place at the end of season. 
Challenging for the cups, semis/finals and quarter final in the champions' league or beyond would be nice too. 

It's weird, i'm not that fussed if we bought him back but at the same time i dont want him to go to another club. 

Versatility is important. 
Cb, lb and DM. If Alonso is to leave there's a need for another left back. He'd also be a natural defensive midfielder. 40m is a very good price. This one makes sense imo.

Yeah but have you seen his defending? I'm giggling at the prospect of Luiz trying to defend in such an open system. 
I thought we played out from the back okay for the most part. It was in the midfield things kept breaking down with lazy flicks.
Agree that Willian was tired he was gone from the game after halftime. Also agree that our inability to control the game in the second 45 led to an end to end that didn't suit us at all. 

Interviewer asked him about scoring against one of top six sides. If I were him I would have said, but it's Arsenal, I don't think they count. 😛

Can’t we just get Ashley some stem cell treatments in Tijuana and resign him ? 

He did well but lets not get carried away after one game.  He isn't going to be in the senior side often this year.  Will head on loan most likely
 
It's great to see them do well when used but some of our fans want them playing week in week out if they simply pass a ball 5 yards with a backheel

Super Frank totally schooled him and Mourinho couldn‘t do fxxk against it, he just watched on and the break didn‘t change it. Son is a clear red and the Spurs fans again showed why they are the low-life scum everybody knows. Loving the Jose meltdown and so happy about Frank‘s calm reaction. Mou just can‘t take it that he got fxxked by Lampard. So happy to have Lampard at the helm and no toxic and sore loser. Long may it last. 
 
Lampard has shown what he is capable of. How can anybody dislike this lad?

Absolute whopper

He celebrated pretty hard at the final whistle.

That's all about confidence. It's clearly been lacking but there were good signs today. If he can start to play instinctively and release those shackles he'll be a different player.
 
One thing that worries me about him, there's a video doing the rounds, maybe someone can post it. It's taken by an Arsenal fan at the opposite end of the pitch when we score our winner. Mount, Willian and Tammy have busted a gut to get down the other end of the pitch and produce a goal. Callum is lagging somewhat behind. When the goal goes in the whole team raise their arms and sprint towards Tammy, every single player except Callum, who barely moves or celebrates.
 
I know some will say it's just his personality but I like to see a bit more passion. Mount, Tammy, Tomori, James, these guys clearly care. It means the world to them, playing for Chelsea, you can see that. Even Lamptey today, he's the only player in that video who's not in the picture when we score, as he's on the right flank, but he sprints and is one of the first to jump on top of Tammy.
 
Callum looks a little bit indifferent to it all.

Was better today but for me, he still needs to add some urgency and aggression to his play. 

Recall Bakayoko from loan, have him play a two man pivot with Barkley.
Play Michy upfront with Kenedy and Piazon in support.
Recall Miazga too, have him feed long balls to Pullisic, who will be at LB. That American connection will be enough to guarantee us Top 3 at least. 

His deliveries were poor but he did have good control of the ball, I feel like he could've taken on players and got into the box to create better chances or even score himself. Hopefully this lifted his confidence and he'll kick on from here.
