December 29, 20196 yr Another hidden gem from our Academy system. Take a bow young man! You just contributed to Arsenal's further demise!
December 29, 20196 yr Thanks for starting this thread, Jezz. What a debut. Reminded me of Kalas's debut against Liverpool (Oh, nevermind).
December 29, 20196 yr After Emerson's perfomance, i wouldnt be suprised if maatsen gets an opportunity soon aswell.
December 29, 20196 yr That's weird, as I do not see a thread for Lamptey in the first two pages of the Chelsea Reserves section of this web site. I presume there is a thread for him somewhere in that section, but it must be way down the list of persons talked about there.
December 29, 20196 yr Is he a right back, I literally know nothing about the kid? Really impressive to come into this game and play like that.
December 29, 20196 yr Very impressed with his positioning today. Some turn of pace as well ...and very direct by the look of it !
December 29, 20196 yr I had to look him up, hadn't heard of him. But now.... excellent debut Born in the year 2000 though, that never fails to scare me.

Well, given that Arsenal does not have many tall players, I think Lamptey would not be picked for teams with tall persons to defend on corners and such, since he is sooooo short.
December 29, 20196 yr Author Some information about him on the club website. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/teams/academy/tariq-lamptey

December 29, 20196 yr What most impressed me about him was his through ball to Abraham, that was the first time we actually got in behind Arsenal's defence and that gave some of our attackers confidence and that allowed us to grow into the game.
December 29, 20196 yr I had my doubts that throwing this kid in at the deep end in a high- pressure London derby was a good idea, but he did very well. What other recent Chelsea manager would have taken that chance?

He seemed pretty vocal about something looking to almost convince a contemplative Lampard shortly before the change.

What other recent Chelsea manager would have taken that chance? At that stage we and he literally had nothing to lose and everything to gain. We needed some productivity and dynamism going forward at fullback, if it backfired he f**ked up and we lost 2-0 then it didn't really matter but if he helps turn the game around he's a hero. December 29, 20196 yr He's always stood out for the youth team. As I said before the match perhaps a bit on the small side( similar to Jay DeSilva), great potential and from what I've seen has plenty of energy to burn. Good prospect.
December 29, 20196 yr Chelsea FC?Verified account @ChelseaFC 1h1 hour ago More The boss praises his assistants Jody Morris and Joe Edwards for their faith in Tariq Lamptey when considering our full-back options with Azpi carrying a knock and James and Alonso out. He says he has seen Lamptey train a lot and he adds a different dimension. #ARSCHE This is the major plus side of having Morris and Edwards in the first team backroom staff. They know the character of the young players, if they're mentally strong enough and how best to use them.
December 29, 20196 yr Very bold move by Frank when he put him in, I was not sure what to expect. Happy for the youngling!
December 29, 20196 yr Very impressed with Lamptey, its unbelievable how many possible stars we have up and coming
