nutmegsw6 got a reaction from fester in Antonio Conte - Now Officially ManagerLooking at the improvement of so many of our players all over the park, it makes you wonder what Conte can put together as a coach, IMO we have the best coach we have ever had (I am not saying manager, I am saying coach). When you look at the players that haven't made it here, it seriously makes you question how many would have had Conte been around.
Now we know at this level it is a results based business, which nowadays means a coach/manager isn't afforded time, especially at our club. But I have to say as much as he was my first choice as the next manager, I have been massively impresssed by his coaching skills, how many of these players would have been undervalued by another incoming manager, indeed how many of them were written off by a lot of us. The improvement of so many individuals in so short a time proves Conte is something special, the likes of which I haven't encountered before at this club.
I seriously think we can look forward to acquiring some outstanding, not necessarily today's star name(s), talent, and a bright future for the academy after all these years.

nutmegsw6 reacted to Jezz in Jose Mourinho threadI still adore Jose and hold him in the highest regard because he provided us with some of the greatest moments any supporter can dream of. It's not something you can forget despite how it all ended with him and us.
In saying that, I've moved on and no longer pine for him the way I once did even when he was managing Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
Some things are best left in the past and when all is said and done, I hope Chelsea supporters and Jose himself (when his career ends) can reflect and look back at his time with us as being largely a positive one barring the disastrous last few months, which I feel overshadows his time with us unfortunately, with it still being fresh in our minds.

nutmegsw6 reacted to evissy in Diego "the guv'nor" CostaFunny how Costa "needs" to act out and battle with the opponent. Imagine how many goals he would have if he was allowed to get yellow cards and fight with everyone.
He never needed that and he is not acting our as he doesn't want to get suspension.
I give some credit to Conte here.

nutmegsw6 reacted to The Brit in Diego "the guv'nor" CostaBasically a third of the season gone and he is not only player of the season for us, but in the League...brilliant week in, week out...and just like didier, now he's cut out some of the nonsense he was getting stick for, he looks a far better player...hurts them where it matters, with goals, not bust-ups

nutmegsw6 reacted to DonAntonio in Antonio Conte - Now Officially ManagerWell that backfired because the talent was there the mentalities were deplorable, the man has been brilliant for us but this particular group seem to do terrible with negative energy round them.
Started with Mou then a couple of players by the end looked like all their dogs had died at the same time moping around the pitch collectively with heads down bar Willian.
I think conte picks the right men for the right job, he understands the players I guess as an ex player more than Mou who has a ridged philosophy that if he doesn't have the right players doesn't work, conte however, sees what he has and builds a team on it.
He is more of a coach Jose was more a manager, conte concentrates on football and coaching the team, these players need a coach with each player told specifically what his role is, given lectures, shown videos, and that then being barked at them from the touch line, he is a perfect fit for this group as we can see on the pitch.
-
nutmegsw6 got a reaction from Jezz in Antonio Conte - Now Officially ManagerAlways stuck up for Jose, even when I knew he was out of order, as he was our manager, though last season was really a watershed moment that a lot of us still don't have the answers to. From game one with the medical staff, to antics that just took us in a direction that made the football secondary, and a team that tried the same thing over and over again with the same personnel even though it didn't work the week before. Always will remember the trophies and the celebrations and that brilliant side from his first spell. I felt we should have backed him last season and blamed the board for getting it wrong, only now I'm not so sure they did.
The verbals to Conte at the end of the match were not acceptable whatever was said, it was ungracious and lacked humility.
Jason Cundy's views last night on Talksport were interesting. far from being supportive of such a successful manager, Cundy touched on how being close to the club he knew a lot of people behind the scenes who would be pleased he had been humiliated as he had upset a lot of people.
He is a bit like our Julius Caesar, and it seems that so many had had enough, it was time to move on. Now people are questioning whether his footballing intelligence is on the wane, and from what we've witnessed it is a perfectly reasonable question to ask (relying on defensive tactics, inability to alter the course of games these days, all with access to a large transfer kitty and more than enough time to know what it takes in the EPL) the answer remains to be seen.
I am more than happy with Conte and assume that after the weekend so is Roman.
