Shortly after there second goal a ball was played over to him, he was stood on the half way line, it was oibveuse the ball was lacking pace and was never going to reach him. the whole world could see i think it was kapo again running in, glen just stood and ball watched. Interception comes in, we have men comited forwards, sudenly glen finds him self making up yards.. not good play from any position on the pitch... there were other moments later on in the second half where he seemed to strugle.

Its all gone wring because well there arnt even that many english keepers playing in the top league. Take note because it will spread. Arsneal didnt feild an english player AGAIN on the weekend and there a top 4 team so thats one of the top four teams doing absaloutly nothing for english football in terms of the national team. In addition to that only 79 english players started over the weekend... thats out of 222 players... very poor and will IMO have a knock on effect

The word id use to describe our football today cirtainly in an attacking sence would be fluid!! Shades of the style we emplyed in the 96 cup game against liverpool in the second half. Great movement by every one involved, every one looking very comfortable on the ball, and what ever position they picked up i.e you saw bot pizaro and drogba in there own half creating chaces for advancing midfielders!! Im not massivly worried about the deffence thing, we are never going to be as strong with out JT, and obvusly there is alwasy the insurance policy (maka) One goal conceded from a set piece where are best two players when it comes to deffending thease things, terry and drogba wernt on the pitch, thease things happen but hopefully not that often! The other one brings me to Glen, i know some our deffending his performance but from a defensive point of view it was not good from the moment he had his tackle broken and we conceded.. kapo will get golas this season, they were talking about how dangerouse he was from range and the thuder bolt her can unlease but he should not have had the chance, Glen was very week. Then 10 mins later he sat and watched a pass trickle accross making no attempt to meet it when it was always going to be intercepted making life hard for him and the deffence as we got caught on the counter.. There were some more occations in the second half where he was made to look a little silly and contributed to our own deffensive problems!! He did do well going forwards, no question but me personly i like my defenders to be able to deffend first and formost!! thats why im such a fan of paulo, not many better out there from a deffensive stand point! Moving on, other than that i thought the rest of deffence did very well, essien and lamps where both very good eshpesialy when you consider that there not going to be all that used to playing with out the holding midfielder, take note stevens, it is possible to have two midfielders getting forwards you just need to use your head a bit and remmeber its not all about you!! As for the wingers, faultles!! swp provided end product and the brum left back is going to be having 5ft nightmares for the rest of the week!! finaly looked very dangerouse and took so many players out of the game with his speed and movment, hope to see so much more of that from him this season!! Malouda is currently shoving a vast ammount of humble pie down my throat!! remminds me of the way overmars used to play for gooners back in the day, again i will happily continue to eat the mentioned humble pie all season long!! not the french stuart downing at all!! As for the strikers! pizzaro looked very good, seemed to find a lot of space and linked up well with every one considering he hasnt been with the group that long. Kaulo, well i think that was one of his best games in a chelsea shirt, caused no end of trouble and showed flashesh of brilliance, and while i dont think he will ever be a 20 + a season striker the goals will come and he must be great to play with in terms of dragging defenders to him Last applause of the day for mika, i actually clapped when he scored! he did start to celabrate as most people would and then almost looke guilty for it, what could have been hey!! Great for him to be fit and scoring again long may it continue! PS essien went over on his knee in the middle of the field shortly after hitting the roket, you could see he tweaked and was struggling on it. always hard to tell with knee's some people can cary on walking on them when they have actually torn somthing... (PLEASE PLEASE dont let it be that) and others roll around in agony. Hopefully just a bit of a twist that will be ok in about 2 weeks!!

Just a thing to think about here. We'r not a team that need the cash, robbens being a bit of a pain at the moment and trying to push the player power thing. I wander what would happen if the press just out and out refused to sell and put robben in the reserves for the next two years untill he signes a new contract.. if he dont fine, you loose two years of your career... he's our player so its our choice! Wander how that would go down, i wish clubs would do this a bit more whith players who try throwing there weight about!!

I think people forget when they go on about weather he's better on the left or the right is that he has worked very hard on his left, hits a better shot with it than a cross so on the right does suit him better because he can still cut in and hit a shot or push wide and deliver a cross. Bit of positivity nibs, with a bit of luck we get a full season of a fit joe cole and with a little bit more luck he can replicate his "untouchable" (jose's word not mine) form from a couple of season ago!! Any way hanson has backed us for the title in seasons gone by, so he's been right before

This season we have a more robust squad to help deal with the injurys and hopefully the additon of another striker will see us bag a few more goals... reasons to be optamistic i think

Liam, you can hardly blame Jose for robben leaving, it seemed clear that he has had his head turned and pushed for this move!! Also do you not rat kalou as some one of simmerler ilk? If thats the case f**k him.... Im not being vidictive because he has simpily handed in a transfer request. Fact is the the club, the staff and the fans have robben in the face of critasisem and continues injurys respectivly in the past. IE terry's comments in reply to beitez jibes made a couple of seasons ago. He has been plagued with injury for more or less his entire time here and really hasnt re-paid the clubs faith and time with performances on the pitch. I would think he's like to try and give us one decent season! Guddy and duffers althoguh i was sad to see them go had never given anything but there best in a chelsea shirt and when they moved on you understood there reasoning, cant say i feel the same way about robben so not going to wish him all the best!! Ok so moving on to the next point.. alves, really limited in terms of the ammount of times ive seen him play, only really in uefa cup games and for brazil so could some one who has seen a little bit more of him tell me exactly what we are going to be getting for our cash??

Only got to see jimmy live on the odd occation and i have to say the first time i actually did it did have a massive impact on my oppinion of him as a player. Fustrated the hell out of me. Still great goal scorer. and my levels of respect went up when he appoligised for actually scoring against us.. in contrast guddy couldnt hide his delight... that one hurt

He played for the Mancs, get your blue glasses on for god's sake. Even with the blue specs on im afriad.... as a young keeper there wasnt a lot to aspire to chealse wise, beasent, grodas, hitchcock, kahrine. some ok some gave ya the wobbles... untill big Ed came along alwasy a position we just could not get right!! The great dane on the other hand was and is one of my all time non chelsea hero's. He was the same age more or less as petr was when he came on to the sceane in 1991 and was instantly ammazing. I can see loz with his finger hovering over the big red ban button now....

Going to make my self MASSIVLY unpopular now.... probably more so. But he's not the best keeper ive ever seen. IMO peter shmichle was the greatest there ever was and likely to be, chec is a very close second but schmicle (or how ever its bloody well spealt) performed miricals of the highest order in between the posts on many occations. Still second best is not bad and cirtainly the best plying his trade at present time

Agreed with all of that. I didnt really see any one perform badly. Given no one was perfect but given the circumstances i think every one did well. Still very much looking forward to this season and very optomistic about it as well

I expect him to score more than one. Someone that good - and so much better than JFH ever was remember - can't possibly be happy with just just one goal. Unless it's one goal a season that is... Unfortunatly he probably wont be playing, he has barly put a string of games together since he left us due to continues injurys. Im not sure if its that funny that such a great tallent is wasted due to injuries because it wasnt down to lack of commitment or attitude

Whats with all the ranting and moaning. Im not sure if people where watching the same games as me. I was down the pub surounded by mancs who couldnt watch the penaltys be taken and celabrated like they had just wont the CL. I was sat with quite a big smile on my face for most of the game as its not offten i can watch chelsea and not make a fool of my self. Ive said before i was going to enjoy this for what it was, a run out for the lads to try and gage where we were and what are intentions are playing wise and personel wise for the season. Would have been very happy if we won and couldnt care less if we lost... The fact that a make shift team took a united team who clearly fealt this was the real FA cup final to penaltys gives me a warm glow of satisfaction. Firstly Jose no way no how intends to play any of this season with those three up frount if he can help it!! wont happen and im not worried about him trying it in the futcher. In addition as i said he moved the team about so much that it was clear to see he just wanted to get as many people playing as possible. Cant really be botherd with player ratings and not going to critisise people because dont see the point, However stand out's: Glen looked comfotable against a very strong untied flank SWP always causing trouble, posible with a few more supporting options would have been able to create more Ben Haim - filled me with more confidence that boula did, solid performer Malouda - nothing scrappy about that goal!! every bit as good as uniteds in its own right.

Not only did bates play a massive part (and when i say massive i attribute pretty much of everything we are today to him) in us becoming the great footballing super power we now are but he has also become the driving force in the constant demise of leeds, complete self sacrifice!! He surly has to go down as the greatest chelsea legend!!
