If I'm not wrong that would be about £192k per week, maybe slightly less, all in. Bit excessive even for somebody of his talents. If Markovic was sold to third party investors it was would explain a lot of the confusion. We're not allowed to deal with third party investors so Benfica would have had to buy him from them and it could mean he joins us at a later date. Of course he'd have had to sign for another club before moving to the Premier League. And if we were planning on sending him on loan there anyway it makes sense that they buy him.

Agreed with everything you posted. He does need to work on the areas you mentioned, however the defensive aspect of his game isn't completely lacking (and I know you never said it was) he can time a tackle well, and though he makes defensive mistakes, so do defenders.

I can't believe that so many people would contemplate dropping Oscar no matter who we were to sign. He'll be the best player in the world in four years, even if he's not currently as good as a few around him.

I was just about to make the point about his first touch. Luckily that's something that can be worked on and improved. If he gets that sorted I think we'll see a massive improvement in him. I'm happy to have him here as a squad player, and if he can turn it on occasionally and deliver something special, then it's all the better.
