Posted April 14, 201312 yr In my opinion there are two types of player we need : A dm instead of mikel: Capoue M'vila Khedira Busquets (Fellaini) AND a deep lying playmaker: Modric Benat Alonso I would like Chelsea to buy Fellaini (22m). And benat (16m) Any ideas???

April 14, 201312 yr We don't need a playmaker we've got plenty of creativity and as mentioned, De Bruyne coming through. We need people like Ballack and Essien. I also hope Chalobah is the answer to the Essien question.
April 14, 201312 yr Alonso plays next to Khedira, who isn't a DM and is very similar to Ramires in that he's a combative, energetic box-to-box player. Chalobah coming through would also be a perfect DM to sit with a less defensively responsible playmaker than Alonso (who is pretty good defensively). Or have him as the holder in a 4-3-3. I'm interested to see what Romeu/Ramires would be like as a combo too - maybe not enough physicality there.
April 14, 201312 yr I really like the look of pogba and Verratti, although either could hinder chalobah's progress. its a tricky situation, either way we need some steel in there next year.
April 14, 201312 yr I'm quite happy with our choices at the moment. Mikel/Romeu/Ramires/Lampard/KDB/Chalobah/Luiz/Oscar. Between them we have all bases covered. I'd like to see us keep Chalobah next season. If we can get Mourinho then I think Chalobah could be world class within a few seasons. Maybe I'm overestimating his potential, but with the right supervision and guidance I think he'll be better than Wilshere (albeit slightly different players). If we're going to sign anyone I'd like to sign a centre back so Luiz can move into midfield more regularly. I'd like to see him start whenever possible as he is still improving from what I can see. His performances recently have been brilliant.
April 14, 201312 yr Capoue + Khedira. I would also not use Oscar, Hazard and Mata at the same time, two of them combined with a more direct player like De Bruyne, Draxler, Shurrle would be better balance.
April 14, 201312 yr If you want to spend a lot then I'd say Modric and Fellaini since they have premier league experience and I have seen more of them than the others. But I would be happy enough having Ramires, Oscar, Chalobah and De Bruyne as our main 4 options for the deeper positions next season, with Luiz able to move further forward if needed. Though if we can add one more physical midfielder for a decent price to that list might be better.

Between them we have all bases covered. i disagree, we need a quality DM. lets face it, lamps is on his last legs. if he stays hes gonna be a bit part player next season romeu, im still not convinced by him. maybe he has potential but hes not good enough to be a starter, yet. mikel i dont rate at all. as far as im concerned his wages are too high for what he brings to the team, needless to say i dont think he should be a starter or in the team for that matter. luiz is our best CB and while i think he did well as a CM, CB is where he should stay at oscar could be used as a CM, at times, against weaker sides de bruyne, as one of the 2 CMs is an experiment that might not work. i think he can do well there but that still remains to be seen in short, while we have a lot of options, apart from ramires, we dont have a single top CM/DM. i really feel we should go for capoue. capoue+de bruyne, at least in theory, sounds really good to me Edited April 14, 201312 yr by Lane
April 14, 201312 yr First of all we need Jose, then we need Hazard and Oscar to track and close down spaces like Mata often does when we do not have the ball. We need a Toure type of player in midfield, someone with a huge presence to be able to hunt down players and be a dominating figure not to be messed with behind our three world class legends to be. My head tells me not to listen to my heart and therefore the time has come to replace JT at the heart of our defence with a strapping CB in the Kompany mould. Then we need an Aguero type forward or at least one with a bit of class and trickery. For gents these were the difference between us and City today. Given them three players not only would we win the league but would breeze to another CL title. We are not far short again from a side ready to challenge at the very top.

I remember when dembele was going cheap, there were one or two people on this and another website who said with a degree of certainty that dembele was not pl quality let alone chelsea quality, because the belgian league was/is so weak. You have to laugh sometimes at the 'expert' assessments you get on here.

I think that if Mikel's role is simply to sit in front of the defence and not move past the half way line he can be a good DM. Not world class but certainly good enough for the domestic games. Romeu is ok and would be back up. Chalobah is potentially an awesome player. He could be world class in a number of positions. And although I think he'll be very good as a DM, I think he may be even better as a box to box midfielder. not to mention the job he could do at CB. Maybe we do need a proper DM, but I wouldn't write off Mikel and Chalobah. And I think Luiz can be just as good if not better in the double pivot (not necessarily as the DM though as he lacks the positional discipline) than he is at CB. If we get Capoue, for example, I think we'll struggle to bring Chalobah through, and although he may end up not being good enough for us, I'd like to see us take the risk for once.
April 15, 201312 yr Has everyone forgot about Ake? No, he just isn't good enough (yet). The sad thing is, Toure at 29 looks a beast of a player. We have a 30 year old Michael Essien on loan who looks a shadow of the player he was a few years back. We could really do with a fully fit on form Bison in our midfield right now.

Absolutely - on his day Essien was one of the best midfielders on the planet. The sheer physical presence was ridiculous - I think I would jump out of the way if I saw the Bison steaming towards me. God I miss that man... what an absolute tragedy.
