  1. Very exciting just to be in this position. If we get a result with 1 goal, it's shootout time, 2 or more and we go through. My heart might not survive shootout 2.0, I wonder if JT would be selected? Optimistic yet nervous. Our defense is best in the league, and fully staffed. The midfield option is very interesting, my choice would be Ramires, Mikel, Frank and FloMope. Ess will just get himself sent off, and Yossi to come on for Flo or Frank. Anelka and Torres up front, with Drogba and Kalou to come on later. We've spent the entire season firing shots into the crowd or at stewards, hopefully now we have plenty of guided missiles left for marauding the Utd posts (brilliant turn, Castiel). The mighty CFC has the knack for big matches, so I expect great things on Tuesday: Plenty of drama for Didier and SAF, a red card for Exra or Rio, 1 for Scum, 2 for Blue and through. BTW Hutch, I completely agree with your take about Ray W and "we, us" vs "they, them". It seems a Freudian slip to me. BTW Mad_Mac, Chicharito means Little Pea, not Penis. I think that would be Pingita, and it makes sense that this would be in the feminine gender. BTW Loz, the US media have finally turned the scores around to home first, away second. That only took since TV was invented.
  2. I was aware of this a week ago, but seeing this statue is jaw-dropping. As The Moos stated, it resembles an action figure: The arms are awkward and disproportionately long, the head is square and orange, and the big broad shoulders. Forgivable if it's 10" high, but this is huge, amateurish and tasteless. His song "Can't Get Out of the Rain" comes to mind. But I'll call this display "The Revenge of John Merrick". Thankfully, it's someone else's problem. Here's what could have been the inspiration:
  3. Yeah, Northport - Franklin was always my favorite Peanut. Welcome aboard and good luck tomorrow!
  4. Hi Pete, Dan from Ohio. Welcome aboard and dig Chelsea people from all over the world.

I just had a FB friend say this to me in support to her political point: "I have been to Europe, so I understand Europeans." Scary-stupid people on Facebook.
  6. Smashing show, hard and fast. Funny the older I get, the more I like punk music, and this Irish punker movement is very infectious.

  8. I'd have gone for Luiz even without the header. His celebration was amazing too, my friends were very impressed by the genuine nature this guys shows. Ramires gets a nod for slamming the door, and Cech/JT get the honorable mention scraps. Kalou was terrific, and his work did affect the result - the 2nd best defense in the BPL was worn out at the end after chasing he and Nando for 70 minutes, then DD and Nico for 20 more. I supported the Torres substitution, and the "boos" are really just cries of disappointment at not seeing more of this incredible addition.
  9. Seconded. I took a pop at you, Saaladin, but it seems to me now that my characterization of you was wrong. As for Malouda/Zhirkov, I'd go with Yuri as the mainstay from here on. Besides all of good reasons I've read here, I'm having a hard time forgetting the way FloMo came off for his sub in the ManU match. Of course we don't know know what's happening behind the scenes, but he seems to have become poison to the team's already fractured chemistry. And we're past the point this season of catering to tender personalities. If he's disappointed not to be an Untouchable Legend demanding his starts, so what. Mod, I respect your dedication to a great player that has contributed so much, but to me he's not showing respect for the CFC and I don't like to see that rewarded. He can find his own way back, or not. This is one of the most intriguiing front lines in all of football. My choice would be Torres and Anelka, Drogs at 60 or so. 3-1 good guys - Lamps, Torres and Zhirkov.
  10. FunnyOnion - peel a layer and here I am, half-Irish. 12 hours or so until a big St. Patrick's Day in Cleveland, Ohio. A happy one to you and everyone else in the Shed End.
  11. Hi

Nice find, TJB - you sign up and right away we get 3 points, so welcome!
  12. Steven Spielberg deserves credit for the film, but I would recommend the book by Peter Benchley which seems overlooked and was, I think, even scarier.
  13. Thanks for reminding me BB that among all of the other great side stories from Tuesday is that David Luiz caused whatever is wrong with Evra with his strike.
  14. What we don't see here in the States are news outlets sitting on a story for maximum impact. We get the occasional bombshell with questionable timing, but I'm learning that scandal is sport in England. That's very distasteful in the sense that individuals are deciding not what is news, but when it is news. Why waste a good story on Tuesday?
  15. “Premier League footballers seem to be 110% above the law. They get away with all sorts of misdemeanours. And they don’t think about consequences." Coming from the guy who only got a suspended sentence for beating his girlfriend, which is not accidental.

  17. Well done to everyone, especially the lads who felt we needed some roughness - Ivanovic and Luiz especially. Eat sh*t Roooney, Vidic, Nani, SAF and everyone who supports ManU. This win erases so much of the crap we've gone through this season. Congrats to all in Blue!
  18. My girlfriend's son had this happen: He and his friend were about 12 and they had one of these air rifles, pump style. They would shoot it repeatedly at each other, just for the air effect, until the son put a pellet in his friend's neck that is still in there 15 years later. Those pellets have a way of hiding inside the gun sometimes. What legal use do they have anyway, besides some useless target practice? Very embarrassing stuff from Ash and whomever brought it to work. So try to quit being stupid and make amends with some lockdown defense tomorrow.
  19. Smurf, you're fine with someone handing over a firearm to someone at work, if they teach the proper discipline? Oh, and these air rifles can appear to not be loaded, while one of those pellets is still inside.
  20. Big, big fan here, Backbiter, of both artists. Thanks for the excellent website recommendation.
  21. "One Step Beyond" still rattles around in my head, dkw - and I haven't heard it played in decades! Dropkick Murphys for me at their sold out show March 6th.
