No idea where this rumour has originated from but before the start of yesterdays game there were a few of the lads saying apparently CFC were going to make a big announcement during February and the two favourites for the announcement were either Roman selling up or the club announcing it was moving to a new ground. Anyone else heard anything?

What does everyone think about moving to a new ground? Right now doesn't seem the right time to move, with ownership in doubt, and a club in decine.

I think you'll find most people are not in favour however that's taking it away from my original question. Has anyone heard anything or is it just bull?

Ive heard this too, apparantley something significant is going to be announced when the yearly financial results are released.

I would expect it to be a confirmation of a new stadium or more likely something to do with Abramovich (not necessarily something negative) - Im not expecting him to sell up.

Aha, that sounds likely. When are the results announced?

Not sure , for the past few years its been Jan, so im not expecting too long a wait.

Cant remember exactly where i heard this but its been at least twice. Im pretty sure one time came from Ian McGarry on Sunday Supplement. Now the bloke is an arse but he seems to be more 'in the know' when it comes to Chelsea than anyone.

It could be well timed. The club needs a lift and swiftly. Fingers crossed.

That is of course if it is good news!!!

I wouldn't be all that surprised if it the news that Roman is selling the club. It would explain why we have not been spending money, why we have cashed in on Bridge and why he went on the offensive about the rumours that he was selling up. Scare the papers to keep the beaks out of it to allow a deal to be struck without interference.

Just speculating!

I wasn't at the game yesterday but I haven't heard anything about a big announcement. However I'm with Loz in the speculation stakes. Wouldn't suprise me at all if Roman said he was selling up.

Well, if it happens at least we know where we stand. There seems to be such confusion and a lack of direction at the club at the moment and that seems to be working its way on to the pitch, via Gene Hackman of course.

If we are sold, it doesnt necessarily mean a bad future for us. In fact going back to being a normal club again often appeals to me. Actually if it means i can relate to the club i love again then id be all for it.

Lets wait and see.

The rumour originally came from Martin Samuel who said in his article that any Chelsea fans fears in Roman's commitment to the club will be dispelled when Chelsea's report and accounts are released in February. This was also backed up by Kenyon live on Chelsea TV.

I think that Roman is writing of the loan debts by converting those into equity or there will be significant money set aside for either a new stadium and/or new player recruitment. I suspect it will be the writing off of the loans he has made to the club.

I've posted elsewhere on this forum that my pretty reliable information is that Roman IS definitely considering selling the Club. One of the biggest stumblin blocks to doing so is the massive personal debt to him. However, he has apparently agreed to write off £250 million in Directors loans that bring the debt to aaset ration down to an acceptable level for possible buyers.

Therefore I beleive that the litigation RA has entered into with the Times is a smokescreen to buy time for the negotiations to sell. My money would be on a buyer from the same part of the World as Man City's owner.

I don't think Roman will sell.

Don't quote me on this, but I recall hearing that the reason Roman hasn't flashed the cash recently is due to the current economic climate in Russia, apparently the country has been severely affected by the credit crunch but is doing it's best to keep the true extent of it from the Western media, as such the oligarchs have been instructed by the Russian government to keep their spending to a minimum during the crisis in an attempt to stop any potential civil unrest.

SW, I think it is precisely the economic crisis that is causing Roman to sell. With Chelsea potentially worth much more than he paid, I think the big man wants to get back some of his liquid assets, and out of what has been a money pit for him. But anyone who can afford the club will have to be pretty well off themselves, and would realize the potential is there with this team, certainly more than it was in 2003.

I have tried to assuage the fear that Roman would sell up, but I think on the evidence that is going around its going to happen, and soon. There is no possible reason why we would field such a weak squad and then do nothing to correct its obvious flaws.

Well said as usual. News like that might have a whole new effect on the players and people at the club, and new owners would mean a whole new apparatus, meaning the usual toads that we have grown to loathe would be out, and we might start getting some reasonable and experienced personalities at the helm. And I dont mean the managers chair.

It is hard to believe that it would be an announcement about a new stadium when the world economics are the way they are. It is cheaper to build now but I wouldn't put my money on it.

Sacking Kenyon idea sounds good to me.

Is it that they are going to reduce the Pie and Bovril combo by 50 pence to £4.50?

How would a new stadium deal go? Surely they cant move the club, so are they going to try knocking down the hotel and expanding the shed end? I feel like doing that would give us the kind of capacity the club are after (50k ish) on the current site

THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

"Roman Abramovic has decided to buy Liverpool and merge them with Chelsea - creating one big team called Liversea - who will play all their home games on Anfield. Stamford Bridge will be demolished and made into a huge supermarket - called Chelpool - which should bring in enough money to cover the costs for both the building of the supermarket and the buying of Liverpool.

Since there will be too many players on the team some will be sold, but exactly who will go isn't clear at the moment. One source close to both clubs said that both Reina and Cech will stay though. Cech will be first choice and Reina will be brought on whenever the games go to penalties.

Rumours are also going around that neither Rafa nor Big Phil will be the manager for Liversea. Strong candidates to take over are two former managers for England - Eriksson and McClaren."

god that would make my f**king year. It does my head in to see incompotent people in my own office that dont deserve their salary. So when its someone like him, Manc lover, tearing through this club like a wrecking ball, I would 'loov it'

Could it have been Scolari was going?

Anyway, I also wonder if it could be that Roman is selling, hence the fact that we only have an interim manager.

Or, it could be that Roman is dedicating his long term future to the club.

If we move, we could lose the name Chelsea, so I really hope that isn't the case, butit could be that we are expanding the Stadium over the next few seasons by closing stands down one at a time to then re-open a bigger and better version
