A few nervy/sloppy outfield performances tonight, but Petr Cech who could do nothing about their first goal, and didn't deserve a booking, again made several outstanding saves.

Err... Lampard never loses his cool, Essien did brilliantly considering his fitness... I've gone for Lampard, some bias there too. I guess anyone who votes Ballack can be considered to using their bias (because it wasn't on that performance), so I don't mind :steaming:

Haha, and I clicked on Drogba rather than Lampard, justice? :fighting0019:

Do someone in here still think that Mikel is not good enough for Chelsea? Fantastic game from our diamond and he was all over the place really. Mentions to Cech, Essien and Drogba to.

I've gone for Bosignwa, once Scolari left i thought he would still continue to be a bit dodgy sometimes but now the guus is in he's impressed in every game defensively and offensively and always keeps his cool.

Mikel by a country mile for me.

I also thought Anelka had a good game.

Disappointing for me were Ballack, Terry and Bosingwa - very surprised to see Bosingwa get MOTM votes. I thought he was liability and was crying for him to be replaced by Mancienne when we wet to 2-2.

Cech MOM - Great Game

Bos - great game, much needed pace down the wing

Mikel - Great game - rock in mid

Drogs - A menace up front, well taken goal

Very happy with how we reacted to going down

Very hard to give anyone MOTM, as 1) It was a big joint effort rather than moments of individual brilliance and 2) everyone who stood out at one point, made a bad mistake the next.

In the end, after much thought, I gave it to Drogs, because in the end, goals are what matters and he had (2) 1 tonight.

For me it was Cashley.

Played well going forward and excellent defensively, especially in 1st half.

I know I shouldn't say it on here, where there is such a bias towards Joe, JT, & Lamps, and against Ballack, but I thought Ballack had a very, very good game too and ran Cashley close.

I have been one of those who has supported Ballack when others haven't but I must admit I thought he had a bit of a mare tonight. He got caught in possession a lot, played far too many half hearted passes which got nowhere near their intended target and when he did lose the ball his efforts to get it back were largely half hearted.

However in general I do agree that he gets targeted on here more than he deserves.

I voted for Ballack! Maybe it wasn't that good his performance, but as long as I've been following Chelsea (which isn't that long, only after this season's first match against man city), anyway, I can't remember one match of a decent performance of Ballack. But today I thought he was alright, and I felt he was really trying to get the ball and make good use of it. -_-

And, despite scoring, I refuse to vote for Drogba.

I agree that he gets caught in possession lots and that can be so frustrating. This season he's been disappointing compared to the latter part of last season.

That said, Average, Scolari and now Hiddinck never fail to pick him, so they can't think he's that bad.

I just thought he had a much better game tonight and deserves a bit of credit for a change. (

After all, some idiot on here even slagged him off for being a "bad role model" for the club recently. Like he's not been 100% professional, been shagging loadsa birds and getting pissed etc. I'll think you'll find that's what our "English" boys get up to. So who's the f***in role model? )

I haven't made a vote yet as it's a tough one to call.

I thought Anelka was great tonight. Normally out wide, he is ineffective (although better than one or two other wide options) but tonight, I thought he was class. He came back a lot more to help out, linked up well with midfield and out wide can think of one sublime pass from one side of the pitch over to bosingwa on the other. Really looked a lot more comfortable wider.

Cech again making some top saves and thought his booking was a little harsh, yes he handled it, but with Del piero kicking it out of the area at the same time, there wasn't much he could do.

Thought the back four (though back 3 at times) worked well, though a little lazy by Alex for their first goal.

Great to see Essien slot straight back in without losing Mikel, who had a solid game.

Drogba is back to Drogba again. I hope he stays and is playing like he wants to.

I thought Guus got the starters bang on tonight.

Welcome to The Shed End.

Fair enough Wicksy. Personally I think the opposite - I think he has deserved more credit in other games than he has got however tonight I thought he did deserves criticism.

I think he does a lot more work than people realise - he has taken a lot of pressure off Lampard which has enabled Lampard to find more time and space. I also think that, more than most players in our team, he always makes himself available to the player in possession so that they always have an option, even if it is just a 5 yard pass.

I do think his form has dipped this season however I have no problem with him being in the squad.

The whole role model thing is a nonsense - I fail to see a single reason why he has been any less, or more, of a role model than anyone else. There are certainly a number of players who I would say have been less of a role model than he has.

Really hard to vote for this one considering the start of the game and the really poor first 30 minutes by the squad. I went for Boswinga in this one, he was cool and composed and made a couple of good runs.

I think, for those stumping on behalf of Ballack and Mikel, we saw the Bison effect today. Both Ballack and Mikel had, in my view, a much much better game than we have sometimes grown accustomed to, and that might be down to simply having a fourth man in the middle of the park, but considering Essien has the energy of a nuclear reactor its a pretty special fourth man to have. He was all over the place at full steam, and I recall a couple of times when Mikel was running towards the Juve box with the ball or off the ball, and Essien had displaced him near the back of the midfield for the moment. Maybe the ability to play two ways is what Mikel needs to get better. In fact, the least noticeable (but perhaps not least effective) midfielder out there today was Frank, for me.

Anyway, Cech is a great shout for MOTM, as I too thought he couldnt stop either goal, and certainly did an amazing job for the rest of the match, but my vote has to go to Drogba. At his best and his worst today, he was back to the Drogba of old. A mack truck when he was going after the ball, and generally, a pain in the ass to everyone in a black and white shirt at all times. And this is coming from someone who was at wits end, and wanted him gone. He is back to being the demon everyone loves to hate, and I think he relishes it.

I went for Anelka as I think now he's stopped moaning about playing out of position he's actually doing it a lot better, close call as Mikel was excellent and Cech again was looking like he used to.

Drogba unsettles defenses so much when he's in the mood...shame he picks and chooses when that mood is right for him.

gone for Bosingwa...played with a lot of flair and creativity at times and used his pace and acceleration to his advantage. although Cech put in an extremely solid performance and Mikel played a consistently solid game AGAIN. really can't fault the lad these days. growing fond of him. i have quite a few flashbacks of Ballack making me pull my hair out as well.....

proud of the lads and looking forward to the draw

well done blue boys

I think Cech was very shaky tonight. He couldn't have done much about either goal but he came close to making some dreadful mistakes and did handle outside the box.

Bosingwa was so active in attack that he looked gassed defending and it almost cost us. I didn't particularly notice Mikel, which is actually not a bad thing because I notice him less often when he plays well, but it's not enough for me to give him MOTM.

I've gone for Drogba. That free kick that was but wasn't a goal really shocked us back to life. He scored the decisive goal (yet again) and once again proved a monster. That man is a big time player.
