geezer
Many congratulations Nico. Fantastic strike with which to win it. If you're gonna win, win in style and you certainly did that. I for one really hope you're still with us next season.
Mod
Just had a gander on previous years. At least since the Prem started. Drogs got it in 06/07, Jimbo lost out on 1 goal to Henry in 01/02 but won it in 00/01. Can't find anymore records before that on the old 1st division but would be interesting to find out. g3.7
his performances have been far better under guus- got a lot of tap ins without playing well under scolari, but since guus has arrived he's started to run at players more. still frustrating, but obviously a different player in a front 2, and certainly good enough to be part of the squad next season. loz
I agree that the Anelka we have sene under Hiddink is worthy of a place in the squad but the one under Scolari I don't think was. Not only is he taking players on more but his ball retention has improved dramatically, a lot less wasted passes or meaningless half hearted flicks. If our next manager is going to play with two strikers then he more than merits a place next season.
jordanl5182
Anelka should be one of the first names on the teamsheet as far as I'm concerned. It seems like he's learnt a lot under Hiddink and the Golden Boot for the toughest league in the world speaks for itself. With a second striker like Drogba (or seeing as we've been liked with him again, Aguero), playing in a 4-4-2 I don't think we could get much better than Anelka. evissy
Have to say I'm really glad for Anelka to get the Golden Boot. He truly deserved it and what a 'deal sealer' it was against Sunderland. I see him as an 'untouchable' in our team at the moment and I really hope he stays with us for a season or three.
youlots
Glad for Nic & our 1st trophy for the year. IMO he's taken a lot of stick this year at times - some justified - some over the top. Good to see his real quality shining thru for all to see in the last 3 months or so.
ethicalstrategy
Good achievement, but ask yourself how many of those goals came when it really mattered? If Drogba stays I don't see that the two of them really work together unless we play both up front. Pushing Anelka wide and then swapping the two of them around is not a long term solution. charierre
Nic has had a good season and a notable fact is he has scored 11 away goals compare this with the worlds golden boy up at OT of only 2, this makes particulary good reading. Well done Nic!
PloKoon13
The odds on Anelka being top scorer at the beginning of the season must have been very, very steep indeed. Pretty astounding considering how sh*te he was last year.

geezer
Good point raised by Nico himself is he managed this feat without taking any penalties or free kicks. It seems Ronaldo scored 4 penalties and 4 direct free kicks whilst Gerrhaveyoueverseenmewintheleagueard scored 4 penalties. This makes Nico's achievement even greater because he's pretty much scored all his from open play

Sheva
Haha, well my excuse for this is Guus Hiddink! I admit i was in the wrong and i was judging our perfomances under Scolari . I still don't think he's the guy to lead our attacking line next season though. He won the golden boot yup, but he hasen't been consistant with the scoring. We still lack that Fernando Torres, Sheva of the early years, Henry of Arsenal years ago, Anelka is a good player yup but i still think we need better to win the league because Man Utd have such a strong squad in all area's. How many times have we all come on here after a match saying we were great but we lacked quality up top. However good job on the golden boot and congrats to him. Sheva
I just feel our top 3 are far too inconsistant too win the league, we rely so much on them to perform and only under Guus Hiddink they have come out on top. Look at Malouda now, he's on form at the moment but what if his form goes again when we get a new manager in? I find it barmy that players play poor under different managers, surely the wage bill is enough motivation. I agree Anelka has been good for us this season but he hasen't been top class for us which is what we need, we need to be consistant to win the title and through this season our top 3 have been far from consistant. I dont want to put a damper on the thread it's just my opinion, like i said he's been good for us this season and all the congrats too him. BLUENUT
Lets hope he doesn't end up like our last golden boot winner, JFH, top goalscorer every year, but trophy-less
