ChelseaYankee
Discussions between Chelsea and Inter Milan over a possible switch to Italy for defender Ricardo Carvalho and midfielder Deco have collapsed. The Blues value the pair at £12m while the Nerazzurri are unwilling to go beyond £6m. http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Calciomercat...652291724.shtml Only 6 million? LOL! Just how serious are they? Even 12 million is steal, imo. Deco better get on the phone and tell Inter to raise their bid up to a respectable level.
BlueBeard
yeah, I was just reading about that. I reckon we ought to settle at £10m for the pair, after all, Ricci's getting pretty injury prone now, and Deco's just a festering turd.
Anders
6 Million is ridicilous! Riccy is worth more than 6 million.
Elliott
I have read that regardless of Deco, Chelsea value Carvalho at £10m. Inter seem to be losing interest as we are meant to be playing ''hardball''... however, i think £12m (approx) for the both, is a very fair asking price. A £2m offer for Deco is a piss take, as is £6m for Riccy.
geezer
Take it down to the wire. If they really want them they will end up paying for them. If they don't want them we've got two more players in our squad.
BlueBeard
I rate Carvalho as worth £10m, but I'd throw Deco in for nothing, I can't stand the bloke

They are both over 30, Deco is more or less worthless for us, but Carvalho is still a great player!
abramovich
If Real hierarchy had any brains, they'd be all over Carvalho instead of splashing bundles of cash on every big name attacker in the world.

Well said. I think Riccy has the skill to thrive in Spain for a good few years. Inter were throwing money away like candy last summer. 4m is an insult for a man who is still one of the world's best defenders. Nevermind a player like Deco, who I am sure we can recoup 50% for. cfckeane
£6 million for both, that must be a joke!! Carvalho has plenty of champions league experience, and international experience, the same as Deco, and yet Inter Milan would rather miss out on them both because they dont want to pay double that? Ronaldo's transfer has inflated the market, but even without it we still shouldn't be bullied into lower prices because Ancelotti is trying to get rid of surplus! icecoolguy22
A fit Carvalho is better than Alex any day ( no offense). In the worst case we can't get rid of him, as long as he is fit, he will play a lot of games next season.
Ruh Buh Juh
A fit Carvalho is better than Alex any day ( no offense). In the worst case we can't get rid of him, as long as he is fit, he will play a lot of games next season. He is better than Alex when he's fit, but it's time for him to move on IMO. We have Alex to partner JT permanently, and then Ivanovic (only 24yo) and Mancienne (only 20yo) waiting in the wings. Our oldest CB would be JT who's just 28. So Carvalho's time hasnow passed with Chelsea, but he's been brilliant with us. And I agree with everyone else, we should be getting at least £10million for Carvalho alone. mad_mac
Like him or not, Deco is a tremendous player and jose obviously rates him highly. I think Deco has been seeked out by Jose at every club he's been to (just interesting that it was Scolari who took him to Chelsea). I think Deco is familiar with a couple of the Inter players too, one of which has described Deco as "the most complete midfielder in the world." Remember when we ran the Euro players of the tournament, after the European Championship was completed, Deco was in that team according to Chelsea fans...and that was before he was our player. Carvalho is obviously admired by Jose too, so I think we should stand firm on our asking prices. $6 million for them both is a joke. Sell Deco for about $5million, and Carvs for about $10. TomP
I'm glad we aren't bending over to Inter on this one. 6 million for Carvalho really is taking the piss. Deco's not worth anything. I'd be happy to see him go to Inter on a free to get him off our books, but Carvalho should be at least 12 million on his own. When fit, he's still one of the top 5 defenders in the world and would walk straight into the first team of any team in the world. And he's still got at least 2 or 3 good seasons left in him. If he really is set on leaving, then we should look to move him on, but I hope he's professional enough to realise that unless we get an offer for him that represents value for money, then he is contracted to stay with us next season. I just hope we get rid of them at some point. Carvo and Deco still have 3-4 years of top flight football in them so I think 15mill combined sounds an offer I would take. We need to trim the squad.. Eggy McMuffin
I was thinking Real would come in for Carvo at some point. Not quite fast enough any more I don't think. They've got a defence of Ramos, Pepe, Albiol and Marcelo. Not a single slow defender there. They know they're going to get caught on the break quite a bit, so they've gone for faster defenders to try and counter that threat.

I think the faster defenders are also defenders who are good at going forward, so I think it's all about that mentality of attacking with ten men rather than thinking of defending(so much). c3blu
We cant just give Riccy away, its a good price or f*ck off. I know he's no spring chicken but he's still a top class player, to me thats £12m for Riccy and a free Deco. They dont have to be sold together, get top $ on Riccy(cause he's still worth it) and then ofload Deco to some Turkish side to be the new Hagi where he can play till he's 40. I still worry about pace with JT and Alex together and think Riccy still gets in our team when fit. I'd be sorry to see him go, so if he's going it has to be a deal thats worth it for us. I think alot of these transfers will have a domino effect, if we can have Ribery Bayern can have Bosingwa then we will get Maicon and Inter can have Riccy and Deco. Once 1 deal is done there will be a flurry of others, and i think alot of other clubs are in the same situation. From our point of view i still think will hold alot of aces because i'm quite happy with what we've got at the minute and certainly should'nt be letting anybody go on the cheap(again).
