Essien's writing a blog for chelseafc.com!

EXCITING SEASON AHEAD

Posted on: Thu 13 Aug 2009

Hello everyone, this is the first of a series of blogs I will be writing monthly for all the fans out there.

I get a lot of questions from people about my thoughts and what goes on behind the scenes at Chelsea FC and in my private life. Hopefully these blogs will give a glimpse of that.

This season is going to be an exciting one for me and everyone associated with Chelsea Football Club without a doubt.

I'm sure most of you are wondering why I make that claim!

Well it's because I say so…. and it's also because I have the feeling the good times are coming back.

When I talk about the good times I am referring to the back to back Premier League crowns and all the six trophies we won in three years a few years ago. I arrived after the first championship win but was part of the second one.

All the players started to feel for the good times when towards the back end of last season we got into the winning habit and remained unbeaten till the end of the season (Barcelona didn't beat us- they went through after an away draw).

That's the Chelsea we are used to and I am sure you are all used to as well. The team spirit during that era was fully established under Guus and we all wanted to win for Chelsea Football Club and ourselves.

During pre-season I could see that same desire on the faces of everyone and that's why I strongly believe there is something exciting around the corner for Chelsea Football Club.

Apart from the feeling I have, I will also say I am fully rested, fully charged and raring to go and that normally means I am in the mood for business. I am hoping to stay injury free this season, so I can contribute fully to the team.

Last season I started off with niggling injuries throughout pre-season and it all ended in tears when I got injured on international duty.

This time I have slept a lot, eaten everything mummy made for me in Ghana and I feel like I can play two games a day. In the words of James Brown: 'I feel good…- So good, So good'……..

Another reason why I am excited about this season is the new boss. We are already enjoying his company and methods. Everyone knows we have been in five Champions League semi-finals in six years and one final. We are desperate to win the biggest trophy in club football and I strongly believe our new boss can help us do it.

He has been there, done it and got the shirt for it and we are already getting the vibe from him. It's exciting - oh what a thriller it will be this season.

The squad has been together for a long time and we are all yearning and hungry for more trophies. We are ready to rock you and we hope the crowd can sing. We are the Champions at the end of the season; ENJOY THE SEASON BECAUSE WE WILL.

PS: There are some song titles in this blog - I will tell you how many next month - see if you can spot them and the song writers too.

Were you expecting or hoping? ::clap2::

From that little-known pop-song of the eighties:

"me slap me big shlong in ya face" by Desmond Dicker

if anyone has ever heard essien being interviewed on tv, a feat in itself, then you will know there is no way he wrote that...he just doesn't talk like that...me thinks some pr has added their two cents worth or written it for him

Agree Brit, there's no way I can see him saying 'hopefully these blogs will give a glimpse of that.'

Rubbish ghost writing.

That was my first thought. But maybe it was so different because of the song titles he was trying to add?

This made me laugh...a lot!

Burnley owner Brendan Flood has revealed the club failed to sign up a young Michael Essien as club policy prevented them paying his £60-a-week wages.

Chelsea midfielder Essien, 26, is currently rated as one of the best midfielders in the game and cost the club around £26m when he joined from Lyon four years ago.

But Flood, who arrived at Turf Moor as director in 2007, has now revealed that The Clarets could have signed up the Ghana international free of charge if they had been willing to pay a minimal wage.

"I discovered Michael Essien had been on trial here for a few days," he said in The People.

"One of the best players in the World Cup - and we hadn't signed him.

"The club policy meant we wouldn't pay an apprentice more than 60 quid a week.

"It smacked me in the face that the problem was a lack of communication within the club that stopped our youth guys making an exception to the rule."

I'm not saying it wasn't completely written for him, but people can be more articulate and/or more formal when they write than when they speak the language. I often tend to be more formal when I write and often use phrases and words that I might not use when I talk. If it hasn't been written for him, I'm sure he's at least had someone proofread the blog entry and make some corrections. I'm not sure if any of you ever read Aki Riihilahti's blog(the former Crystal Palace midfielder) that was published in The Times, but you could clearly see he was writing it himself. He refused(at least in the beginning) to have anyone proofread or make corrections to his blog entries and he didn't check any words from dictionaries when he wrote the blog entries. If he didn't know some word, he tried to explain it as well as he could and he often used direct translations from Finnish. He knew his writings didn't always make sense and made him come across as a bit of a weirdo, but at least you could tell it was written by him.

If Essien wrote that, my cock's bigger than Makalele's!

I would have been racing Geezer's daughter to your door, but I notice you have a blue nut. Not a good sign, think I'll give it a miss.
