Agreed that Ashley Cole was the runaway man of the match.

However I gave a consolation vote to Petr Cech, whose contribution was also very good and I thought deserved recognition.

Ashley again and I thought Carvalho had a decent game apart from the bit of customary shirt tugging,

Nic took the goal very well after a decent save from his initial strike, Ballack and Essien must feel equally sorry for Mikel and want him to be a starter next game.

Plokoon

You appear to have missed the point - this is where you vote for your man of the match, not you 'poor bloke won't get a vote because he was second best of the match'

Good point, loz, I sometimes feel that Cech doesn't get the recognition he deserves, so, seeing that Ashley Cole looked like he was going to run away with it, thought it apt to give him a vote. To be perfectly honest, Cech was probably as important if not more important to the result as Ashley Cole was tonight.

That is a fair comment and as an ex goalkeepr I am a fully fledged member of the 'Keeper's don't get enough credit club'

However I am also conscious of the fact that sometimes a keeper only has to make two or three decent saves to get a MOTM vote on the grounds that if he hadn't made them we would have lost. Tonight I though Cech did well but he was never really called on to do anything you wouldn't expect him to do reasonably routinely. I think if Cole hadn't played as well as he did tonight then Cech would have been a far far busier keeper and they would have had some chances that I doubt they would have missed. For that reason I would say he was more important to the result than Cech.

Point taken. I will point to one absolutely outstanding save he made in the last ten minutes though.

Feel free to change my vote to Ash then.

I'm a little traumatized at the moment. I'm listening to Meddle for the first time, and after 'Fearless', which was quite mediocre in itself, I was sickened to hear some Scouse w**kers singing You'll Never Walk Alone out of my speakers. D:

I guess I'll never be listening to that song again...

It was between Cech and Cole for me Loz, but I went for Cech as I thought the conditions were terrible for a keeper tonight.

Thought their goalie had very decent game as well.

since we bought him... ash cole. never slagged him off, he is without doubt THE BEST LEFT BACK IN THE WORLD, CLASS MAGIC ............. AND HES CHELSEA :D

Only three players worthy of a shout IMO. Cech, Ash & Anelka.

All performed well but I went for Anelka. He worked tirelessly and held the ball up well. Can't be easy when you have Kalou alongside you who just looks worse every game I see him play. How long before we realise that he just isn't good enough?

And Essien and Ballack had terrible games. Essien gave the ball away more times last night than he's probably done in the last 3 seasons put together. And Ballack last night looked like the Ballack of a couple of seasons ago - I bet Sexelk was frothing at the mouth!!
