It's not a best of collection by any means. It's basically a collection of rarities and (mostly) previously unreleased material. The three discs all have a different theme. One is full of ballads and slower melancholic songs, one is full of rock/blues stuff and the third one is filled with his more experimental stuff.

Ah, ok. While it sounds interesting I'm not sure about a format. I like when differenty type of songs are mixed on the albums, if it's all the same for 10-15-20 songs that can get a bit tiresome if I'm not really in the mood for it. Anyway, give us a short review when you heard all discs. Are they hidden gems or are they rarities for a reason?

I think I need to listen to them a few times before I can make up my mind. There are some good ones in there, but I'm not sure about how the discs work as a whole. Not yet. The critics seemed to like it back when it was released. It finished 2nd on Metacritic's best of 2006 list.

I bought that Brawlers, Bawlers and bar stewards album when it was released, I always thought it was a 'new' album. I still listen to Brawlers from time to time, but I haven't listened to the other two discs in years.

Currently listening to Jason Isbell. Not a fan of country music but this guy is a great singer.

As someone points out in the comments, he must have listened to Norwegian Wood.

Recently discovered the band Alt-J. I suppose they'd fit into the Indie Rock/pop genre. Really like all their music.

Check out dissolve me by Alt J. It was always on at work and I could never work out what the song was. Googling the lyrics didn't help much either. Until I asked a guy when it was playing what it was and he enlightened me and pointed me in the direction of their album 'An Awesome Wave'. Would recommend!
