Blackburn vs Chelsea (Carling Cup) 02/12/09 20:00 KO

Featured Replies

Cup Quarter Final time and maybe another chance for the likes of Zhirkov, Kakuta, Belletti and Kalou to get some playing time.

My own thoughts are that Anelka maybe deserves a rest and we should consider going with Kalou and Drogba up front.

Lampard may well be rested after being rushed back against Arsenal and Malouda should get a deserved return to the first team.

I hope Matic gets to play as well. He was really good when he came in against Wolves and was perhaps even better in his next game for the reserves.

And what's the news on Sturridge? Is he injured? If not, then I wouldn't mind if he played. Rest Anelka and play Sturridge and Drogba together or else rest Drogs too and play Sturridge and Kalou.

Matic should play, as should Ferreira and Mikel. Perhaps give Turbull/Hilario a run out as well.

Hilario/Turnbull

Ferreira

JT (I'd assume)

Alex

Zhirkov

Mikel

Belletti

Malouda

Deco

I'm not sure which strike pairing he'll use. I'd imagine we can count on a start for Kalou, however.

It will be something like:

Hilario

Ivanoic JT Alex Zhirkov

Mikel Ballack Malouda Deco

Kalou Sturridge

Drogba, Lampard on the bench for insurance.

It's tempting to play Drogba with the kind of form he is, but this is the kind of match we should win without him with the squad we have.

I think, regardless of people's opinions on the Carling Cup, we will field a pretty strong team. Carlo will undoubtably want to ensure silverware as soon as possible, so this will not be an out and out gamble. I quite like Icecool's team, but maybe have Drogba instead of Sturridge, and maybe Kakuta instead of Deco....if possible

Scott

It's pretty much a cert that this will not be a first XI team. I'd like to see kakuta and Matic in the starting line up, with one of Sturridge or Borini starting up front along with Kalou.

It will be something like:

Hilario

Ivanoic JT Alex Zhirkov

Mikel Ballack Malouda Deco

Kalou Sturridge

Exactly what I think, and I'm fine with that - Man City is a big game on Saturday, can't risk an injury to Drogba certainly. However I think I'd include Anelka, at least till we score...! I'd also perhaps rest Ivanovic and play Paulo or Belletti.

I think its most likely any of Kakuta, Matic or Borini will be subs rather than starters. I am not sure who the strike partner of Kalou will be. It could well be Drogba who could be subbed later after ensuring a comfortable evening for us.

Hilario

Belletti Alex Terry Ferriera

Mikel

Ballack Zhirkov

Malouda

Kalou Drogba

Sub: Turnbull, Bruma, Matic, Joe Cole, Borini, Kakuta, Lampard

Certainly like to see kakuta again. Zhirkov needs match time. Mikel looks like he needed more match fitness. For sure let's give Alex a game, maybe with riccy instead of terry

.........................TURNBULL/HILARIO

FERREIRA/BELETTI....ALEX.....IVANOVIC.......ZHIRKOV

...................................MIKEL.................................

..........BALLACK............................MALOUDA..........

.................................DECO.................................

..................DROGBA...............KALOU.............

SUBS: BORINI,

KAKUTA,

BELETTI/FERREIRA,

MATIC,

J.COLE,

BRUMA,

TURNBULL/HILARIO

Let Essien,JT,Lamps, Ashley,Ricky and Nico rest and give some squad players and youngsters a chance to show their quality.

after gokhan tores interview i want to see him in there, however this would be my lineup

---------hilario

--ferrera--Alex--Ivan--yuri

---------mikel

-------ballack--malouda

---------kakuta

-------kalou---sturridge/borini

call me cocky but that team would kill blackburn and if we are struggling then bring the big guns off the bench. I dont see any chance of lamps playing as he clearly wasnt 100percent during the arsenal match

Butch has stated that Alex and Sturridge are definitely out for tomorrow's game while Ashley is a doubt.

He also mentioned that Kakuta will be involved.

A full debut for Bruma anyone? I think Paulo and Zhirkov will take up the full back berths.

In the midfield, I can certainly see Ballack starting but the rest of the diamond I am not sure about.

Up front it looks like Kalou will start. His partner?

Would love to see Matic get a run out..

I know hes inneligeble but its also a Big chance for Franco Di Santo to have a little look at his new compeition in Kakuta/Borini/Sturridge

Up front it looks like Kalou will start. His partner?

I'm hoping that he starts up there on his own, and we employ the Christmas tree formation with Kakuta getting a start and Deco behind him.

Hutchinson isn't injured is he? I'd love to see him start, but nobody have mentioned him.

My team(if Hutch isn't playing):

---------------Hilario--------------

Ferreira-Bruma-Terry-Zhirkov

---------------Mikel---------------

---------Ballack---Malouda----

-------------Kakuta-------------

---------Kalou-----Drogba------

The one player I absolutely would not play tomorrow is Drogba. Wrap him up in cotton wool and let him sit on the bench with his Ipod. Why risk the one player we cannot afford to lose against Blackburn in the poxy Carling Cup?

Tomorrow should be all about the kids and the fringe players.

----------------kakuta--------------

------------kalou-drogba-----------

Subs: Hilario, Belletti, Bruma, Matic, Joe, Borini, Anelka

I agree, but I think Ancelotti will play a better team than before in the CC because he want to get his first trophy. Also Anelka will be more important to rest, cause he has been running alot in the latest games.

Turnbull

Belleti Alex Terry Ivanovic

Mikel

Ballack Deco

Zhirkov

Kalou Sturridge

interesting to see yuri on the top of the diamond, would really appreciate it.
