Goal Of The Season 09/10

Featured Replies

I think it's a bit silly having this now with 5 games left, but there we go.

Take your pick

CHOICES:

A. Deco v Sunderland (a) 18 August 2009

The Portuguese rounds off an excellent team passing move by beating his man and shooting low past the goalkeeper and in off the far post from 25 yards to seal an early season away win.

B. Didier Drogba v Stoke City (a) 12 September 2009

Almost out of nothing, Frank Lampard rolls a ball into the forward who rolls his man and fires an early left-footed shot across the keeper and into the top corner.

C. Didier Drogba v Bolton Wanderers (a) 31 October 2009

The ultimate showboat goal, Anelka picks out Deco from wide, the midfielder chests it into Lampard who deftly flicks into Drogba's path and the striker volleys home into the corner to round off a comprehensive victory.

D. Didier Drogba v Arsenal (a) November 29 2009

The only dead ball of the group, Drogba lines up a free-kick to the left of Arsenal's goal, and picks out the far corner using his iconic free-kick style. Another that sealed a memorable away win.

E. Frank Lampard v Watford (h) 4 January 2010

At least 25 yards out, Lampard finds himself in space to the Chelsea right, and lets fly with a dipping effort into the top corner through a crowded penalty area, leaving the keeper grasping at air.

F. Conor Clifford v Nottingham Forest (a FA Youth Cup) 13 January 2010

Another from long range, the young Irishman receives the ball some 35 yards from goal, steadies himself with his first touch, and fires a rocket into the roof of the net with his second to set his side en route to the FA Youth Cup Final.

G. Florent Malouda v Sunderland (h) 16 January 2010

The Frenchman picks the ball up on the edge of the centre-circle, shrugs off his man and heads straight towards goal, jinking to his right just inside the area and shooting low into the far corner with his weaker right foot.

H. Ashley Cole v Sunderland (h) 16 January 2010

Accomplished finish from the left-back after he finds himself furthest forward chasing a high John Terry through ball. Bringing it down in one touch, Cole turns inside his man and lifts the ball over the goalkeeper from close range.

I. Didier Drogba v Arsenal (h) 7 February 2010

The last of Drogba's four nominations, this is the Ivorian's second of the game, completing a devastating counter-attack. Lampard broke from midfield and fed the forward in the right channel, Drogba then cutting inside two defenders and blasting the ball hard down the middle.

J. Florent Malouda v Aston Villa (h) 27 March 2010

The Frenchman's first of the afternoon, he ends a flowing passing move with a crisp volley into the bottom corner. Deco's nonchalant pass released Yury Zhirkov down the left, and the Russian picked out Malouda 12 yards out on the way to a 7-1 win.

For me it's between Goal C (Drogs v Bolton) and Goal H (Ash v Sunderland). I vote Ash, JT's pas was perfect, Ashley's touch was perfect, Ashley's finish was perfect.

Agreed, it has to be between Goal C and Goal H, but I give the slight nod to "C".

Looking back on last years goals....we scored WAY more attractive goals last year.

and what a goal it was ploks, he took it was all 10 outfield players and smashed it in from an impossible angle. sadly the cameras never fully picked it up, probably because it was a goal of pure unpredictable genius.

fortunately, in 30 years time we will be able to look back and say "I was there".

I remember thinking at the time could that be the best ever goal scored at Stamford Bridge. Certainly the fans around me thought so and these were seasoned regulars. How lucky was I as someone who doesn't get to go every week to see such a goal.

The Malouda one that Loz missed, during the Shed End Piss Up

Nah, Drogba's finish to a neatly created team goal

Goal C

Would have been Malouda's goal against Watford like for most people, but from the choices I voted for C. Incredible team goal, from Anelka's cross to Drogba's goal.

Ashley's goal (H). Two moments of pure genius. First, JT's pin point pass which Zidane would have been proud of and second the dribble and finish by Ash which big Ronaldo would have been proud of.

I was coming to post this too....I agree, I was between the perfect team goal and Ashley's great one, but I've always leaned "C"....I almost always pick a Lampard goal, so maybe I'm being progressive this year in my picks? Or Lamps is just not scoring as attractive as goals...

EDIT: Btw, I think I like Malouda v. A.Villa in the FA Cup better than the other Malouda v. Villa goal, the finish after the superb Ballack cross.

Agree :D

I loved Malouda's against Villa last weekend. Not spectacular but the body shape and swerve after the finish and the celebration behind the net. Pure class.
