Gonzalo Higuain

Wouldn't want to see him here. Can score when on the mood but I seriously think Anelka is lot better than him. Aguero can create goals Higuain is just the guy who shoots.

Higauin is an excellent striker. He is very quick, great finisher and can play on the right hand side of a front 3. All round Anelka is the better player but I think Higuain would score more goals.

Drogba, Anelka, Higuain and Sturridge would be fantastic as four specialist strikers to chose from. Good rotation for form/injuries and if we were to get another winger we would have

Malouda

Drogba

Anelka

Sturridge

Higuain

New winger

*Joe Cole

*Kalou

Competiting for 3 or 4 places depending on the formation. That would be good strength in depth, what I think we've been lacking this season. A genuine 3rd choice striker that can be rotated with Anelka and Drogba.

*if they stay at the club

Great striker, but I'm not sure we need him. If we sign Aguero we have 3 great strikers (Drogba, Anelka and Aguero) with Kalou, Sturridge and possibly Borini as backup. And if we continue playing 4-3-3 then I prefer if we don't use a striker as winger. So that'll be only 1 striker up front with two wingers (Malouda/Zhirkov and Kalou, Joey, Aguero).

Only if we're considering letting someone like Anelka to leave should we try to get Higuain. Or maybe if we fail to get Aguero.

If he were on offer, I wouldnt say no, becuase he is already one of the best in the world and will be for many years to come.

But even for Real MAdrid it would be mental if they let him go. 35m man Benzema will be offloaded LONG before Higuain is, and I think the rumors of a split with Ronaldo are very overblown.

why would Real sell him? He's had a good season

They sold Makelele, didn't they? We are talking about some really insane people here.

they would sell him because he was a 'star' signing by the previous owner.

the new owner bought ronaldo

Higuain is currently outscoring ronaldo and the new owner doesn't like his show pony being upstaged.

its obviously a very very petty atitude. its also the truth. Higuain will very likely be moved on.

I think he's a cracking young player and there's always the fear of missing out on someone who develops and adapts like torres did. he's an out and out striker really though and not sure where he would fit in with a fit drogba. probably the right siging but the wrong time. in a couple of years when its likely the pace and physical aspect of the game start chipping away at drogbas game he would be fantastic. obviously is not possible to spend 35 mil to keep a player in cotton wool till then though.

i've got my fingers crossed we get aguero and a CB this season. anything else can be covered by the kids that have been involved on the fringes this season.

i'd quite like to see mancienne back this year playing the makelele role or as back up to mikel. when needed i'm of the school of thought that mikel actually has enough in his game to move forward and play alongside lampard or essien when required. and also mancienne can cover rightback if its a problem again, rather than ferreira. if we are going to have someone who is 'ok, can do a job, occasional mistake' i'd much rather it was young talent developing rather than an old pro going through the motions

It has been rumoured that this guy has been offered to many clubs (Chelsea included) for a fee of around £15m, in order for Real Madrid to make way for Aguero.

For that price, I'd snap him up almost without hesitation.

Too right, at that price we would be mad not to have a go. I think he would do well in the prem, the physicality wouldnt be a problem.

No way would they let him leave for that!

Actually, they have offloaded quality players for cheap a few times.

Anyway, if there is a chance of getting him for that, absolutely go for it.

Yeah but....

Drogba, Anelka, Torres, Kalou, and Sturridge possibly Neymar and Lukaku as well the way everyone is talking.

I said this about Torres in January and I'll say it again. We need someone to create the bloody chances for these guys. 50m should have bought us the world, but 15m still goes a good way towards one of Pjanic, Honda, Kagawa, Turan, Young, Augusto, Arshavin, Lucho Gonzalez or Montolivo. The sort of player we need a lot more than another striker.

For that price, I think we'd be crazy not to take a chance on him.

Spiller86, you have a point, but don't you think that if we get Higuain in that we would probably let someone go or sell someone off? Someone like Anelka?

I won't argue that you're 100% right that we need to bring someone in to create chances for our striker core. Absolutely correct. However, Higuain for £15m, that's a chance that I think we should take.

Problem is that he's unlikely to want to go somewhere that he's not going to be the first choice striker and even if we sell a couple of ours, he probably won't be. Could see him maybe going to Inter as a replacement for the aging Eto'o and/or Milito.

The price is just too good to be true. He is a quality striker. If we were to get him then we have to get rid of Drogba, Anelka and Malouda....provided we're still going for Neymar.

A front line of Torres, Higuain, Neymar, Sturridge and maybe Lalkovic doesnt look that bad, does it? Given two of them are new players, two are unproven at this level and one is still finding his feet in a new team, I would still stand by my argument that we should let go of those three and build the team around this forward line. Of course, we'd also need a proven creative midfielder to get the best out of them.

Even if we did offload Anelka we'd still have three strikers in Higuain, Torres and Drogba who all like to play alone upfront with only 1 spot to put them in. It's a waste of limited resources that can and should be spent on other positions that require attention, notably on the right side.

We have that problem with or without Higuain. I would much rather insert him into the equation than not especially for that price which looks even better if it forces us to sell one or more.

The real question is whether or not that rumoured price is accurate. I doubt it, not for him.

We certainly do have that problem anyway Arq. That's why we'll be selling one of Drogba or Anelka anyway. We've also got Danny Sturridge to come back in. We've no room for him no matter the price.

Also when did 15m become peanuts? We're supposed to be balancing the budget in two seasons, you don't just go out and spend 15m because you can. If we hadn't have bought Torres in a panic in January I'd be 100% with you, but we did and we haven't room in the 25 man squad or money to be spending when we need some more creativity either wide or in midfield not another striker for the manager to try and fit into the team.

Higuain would be a steal at that price but it'd be insane to get rid of him, surely benzema will go first. Unless theyre planning on having cronaldo play as a straight no.9 now.

As for gago I think he's a touch to slow, probably better in italy or as a squad player for us
