One from three for me. I thought Cech and Mikel were practically flawless tonight - both of them doing everything asked of them with the minimum of fuss and without an error. However I thought Terry was immaculate from start to finish and he gets my vote.

Cech was brilliant, not just his saves but his distribution too. Could of conceded a few early goals were it not for him so he gets my vote.

Cech, Terry and Mikel probably our best players. Pretty average performanec but we deserved the win. Would have liked to see Josh come on earlier, but happy enough with his 20 minutes. Three wins, and we are basically through already.

I was trying to make my mind up before I looked in the thread and it was between Mikel and JT, I just went with Mikel but it was coin toss stuff for me

pretty average performance?

Good lord. What excatly do people want these days? Baffling. I'd have snatched your hand off for that result at 5pm.

A great victory and a big night for JT who was my mom.

Think you misunderstood me. Very happy with the win but it was not the best of games by our standards.

I think it was. Given the pitch, the injuries, and decent opposition, I'd say that was a very impressive, professional performance.

Top marks to all.

Not the best of games? Drogba, Lampard etc out injured, unaccustomed to playing on a plastic pitch, Spartak have an EXCELLENT home record, and Moscow isn't exactly just down the road from SW6.

Pretty average performanec but we deserved the win.

That was anything but average, wins in Russia are notoriously hard to come by. We were first rate today , defended well as a unit and broke with pace.

not the best of games by our standards? Hmmm, you need to factor in so many issues , and when you do that the conclusion has to be it was a great performance.

My only surprise is you didn't abuse Paulo.

Thought Mikel was close to MoM at Villa Saturday so have gone for him tonight, he's in the grove and quietly going about his job, maybe josy maybe a hint of the Maka about him these days, all credit to the manager for getting the best out of him on a regular basis.

Mikel for me too. Great to see him fulfilling his potential at last. He's having an excellent season and did nothing wrong tonight. JT was also absolutely superb and his commitment was fantastic, as we've come to expect from him.

But it was a SUPERB team performance against a difficult team, with several key players missing, far from home, on a plastic pitch. How anyone could describe our performance as "average" makes me shake my head in disbelief. ffs!!

Excellent performance, pretty much the perfect Champions league away game. JT motm for me, a magnificent display and barely put a foot wrong. That kind of game makes a mockery of those who say JT is no longer a top class defender.

Before I clicked on this thread I was thinking Cech or Mikel. However I agree with many that JT was also brilliant. It's tough when collectively they've all played so well. Just shading it for my vote is Cech. It's not that often you see him so well tested, and due to that he rarely has a chance to put in a man of the match performance. Everything he did tonight was top class.

Cech for me! Some nice saves (had no idea Spartak had so many players who can shoot from ranger, most of them were on net and would of troubled lesser keeprs than Cech) and his distibution was fantastic....almost got an assist had Kalou shot the ball on the volley! Shame, I really wanted to give it to Zhirkov but his 2nd half didnt justify it, tho I am sure if given time on the pitch in an advanced role Yuri will collect a MOM or 2 before end of season.

Terry again showing he is one of the best defenders in the world at reading the game and anticipating opponents moves.... Please hang in their legs of JT!

Cech for me. Maybe the most incredible match a keeper has ever played but he did everything he needed to perfectly tonight.

Almost voted for JT solely on the basis of him taking a boot to the face and then shoving Welliton I think it was out of the way to get to the ball first immediately afterwards.

But in the end I decided to vote for Cech, who once again proved his doubters (of whom there are many) wrong.

Tezza. Him and Brana were flawless.

Cech was also superb, and Zhirkov had a solid game with a spectacular goal.

I am stunned that anyone could complain about that performance. sh*t, that is just spoilt. My facebook status during the game last night was "Super Champions demonstrating just how an away leg of the Champions league SHOULD be played - By national champions, not "runners up" or fourth placed muppets or Scotch league winners!"

I can't see any reason to change that.

I was torn for MOTM, but went for Mikel, mostly because the lad seems to have upped his game to the level we were expecting.

Mikel has become indespensible to the team. He's solid just about every game...and I get the feeling if he was injured for a long period, we might struggle a bit.

Essien is great at whatever he does, but if he had to go back to DM for a long time, I just don't think the midfield would function nearly as well.
