It's just been confirmed on Sky that Arsenal have had a bid for Gary Cahill rejected, so they're definitely attempting to strengthen at the back.

Im not surprised it was rejected, offering £6m and a few add ons is an absolute joke.

Chelsea are considering a shock bid to bring Arjen Robben back to Stamford Bridge and they will offer Bayern Munich Florent Malouda to seal the deal.

Blues boss Andre-Villas Boas is eager to add some flair in wide areas of his team and he recently had a £17.5m bid rejected for Porto winger Alvaro Pereira, with the Primeira Liga champions insisting the Uruguayan was not for sale.

The Portuguese tactician is now considering his options and has turned his attention to former Blue Arjen Robben.

The flying Dutchman enjoyed a successful spell at the West London club from 2004 to 2007, in which he helped Chelsea win two Premier League crowns, a Carling Cup double and an FA Cup before he left for an ill fated spell at Real Madrid.

But the 27-year-old has arguably demonstrated the best form of his career since joining Bayern in 2009, and now his former London employers are plotting a sensational player-plus-cash bid involving Malouda in an attempt to re-sign the former Stamford Bridge favourite.

Villas-Boas left Malouda out of his starting line-up for Chelsea's first home game of the season but he brought him on in the first half - and was rewarded as the Frenchman netted the winner against West Brom.

But it is understood the former Porto chief is not keen on the 31-year-old attacker, who he believes is past his best.

Italian giants Juventus are understood to have enquired into the availability of Malouda earlier this week, but their interest could be in vain if Villas-Boas uses the Frenchman as bait to land Robben.

Agreed. We would be smart to monitor the outcasts that populate Madrid and, to a lesser extent, Barca.

This is based on just my personal feelings, but I don't see us ever signing any of the youngish German players out there right now. Bayern will end up cleaning up on the talent.

I won't read much into it, because it's the Fail....but they had an article saying Newcastle are possibly signing Davide Santon for 5 million.

Worth having a look as an alternative RB (rather than VDW or no-one)? Ferreira or Bosingwa (or both) could be going soon, and Santon is talented, and I think would be eligible to registered u21 this season. Plays in both full-back positions.

Don't know if he'll be sold, but in my opinion, if he is, he'd be well worth a gamble.

I've just heard a rumour that Hargreaves is joining City. Won't he be competing with Touré, Barry and De Jong for a place? Can't see him getting many minutes.

Roman have given AVB £80m to spend on 2 midfielders and a wingback, according to sky sports coxy.. have no idea how much truth that in that one and havent even got a clue who this coxy guy is.

Doubt it is true since I can't see how the media could get such information. I also wonder why it's just Romans money. Surely the club have some money to spend on players?

Hargreaves to City is truly one of the weirdest transfers ever if it goes through.

This guy offered himself on a pay as you play deal to WBA, or was packing to go to the MLS. And suddenly one of the most talented squads in the country, already bloated with players they cant dump on anyone, wants to sign him?

It just looks for all the world like they are just trying to get one over on Man Utd, once again. This guy is going to play 30 minutes for them and then spend the next 3 months on the treatment table.
