November 26, 20178 yr Missed out on that, 1978 Mine came in the post in a Jiffy bag!! It did come in clear bags with the Umbro logo on it. Sad I remember that, but it was so special to get my first kit. Those diamonds down the sleeves and shorts were the business!!! Edited November 26, 20178 yr by Richard P
November 27, 20178 yr There was something special about getting Chelsea kit at Christmas. I also remember saving up and sending away for a bundle of Chelsea home programmes advertised in Shoot magazine in the late 1970s every so often. Also had a couple of admiral posters back then with various 'admiral teams' and a Puma football boot poster too.

Here's a picture of the London Airport Control Tower in Thunderbirds. FAB!

November 27, 20178 yr According to Google, they're both 31 storeys. The Empress State Building is 117m, Trellick Tower 98m ( however if you add on the radio mast Trellick is taller) Talking of tall buildings in West London, someone told me that the Worlds End Estate once contained quite a few QPR fans even though it's on our doorstep. The reason being that a lot of the residents used to live in the area that was flattened for the construction of the Westway

Mitre Multiplex 2.5 was around 25-30£ I found one in a tree at the Bank of England sports club which was near Barnes I think in 1980. Fantastic ball, lasted for ages and all my mates loved using it. Heavier than lesser priced balls but helped build your leg power for long passing and shooting. Funny you mention the footballs as I recall former world cup competitions and the pundits used to talk about 'that world cup football' as regular good strikers of free kicks just could not strike it properly, at least for a couple of weeks. England always seemed to be the worst at getting accustomed to it!
