A pal of mine sent me this it's from Twitter or X or whatever  it's called now. Everyone including me at first glance thinks what the hell is that on top of the West Stand it looks like something from a 50's sci film. It is in fact just a builders lamp the camera angle gives it a sort of optical illusion 🤣🤣

Was there a match at the time, it looks like people in the North stand.

Those lamps remind of telecom/ gas work stuff in the early 80’s- they’d have a temporary yellow workman’s tent in the road for a couple of days with those lamps outside- my mates used to rifle through them looking for tools.

 

Those long blue tool bags - workmen would enter the tent the next day and be able to lift the tool bag with one finger- sod all tools in there…

Edit: think those workman’s tents were red and white striped rather than yellow. Either way they got plundered Wandsworth way

Posted many times before but from the game against Dynamo Moscow in November, 1945. Love that fans are sitting on the roof of The Shed. Suspect that most if not all were military personnel who were used to climbing hills, walls etc.

A ‘muddy and very wet’ pitch in Feb 1957 and Bolton are the opponents.A 2-2 draw.
