Was at the game with the 11,000! Cold afternoon when we were sh*t! Some great memories, especially the song at the beginning "we'll see you both outside, we'll see you both outside!" The away terrace now the Matthew Harding for the younger folk is so empty!!

Cheers Carshalton, don't recognise the programme. Had my first season ticket for the 88/89 season in the West stand. I suppose the Shed was closed for the game after the Boro game in May. Don't have any memory of the game or score!

The Shed was open mate i was stood on it, the gate was 8,000 & we drew 0.0.

I remember going to chopper harris's testimonial sometime during the late 70's at the Bridge against Glasgow Rangers, and there seemed to be thousands of Rangers fans in the bars !

My father (aged 90 ) used to live at 53 Broughton road, Fulham at the time, and he says his mum worked for the company, and the picture of the Sunlight laundry horse and cart was taken in the 1930's.

They used to use one for collection and another for delivery !

Thanks Erskblue. I've had a look at the history of Sunlight Laundry and they are still going although there have been a few name changes and take-overs. 

 

The poster on the right shows we're due to play Notts. County. I've checked the fixture list and the first time we played them at home was on 29 April 1908 - we lost 2-1. Assuming that the photo was taken prior to World War One the other times we played them at home up to and including 1914 are:

 

10 April 1909 (Won 3-2)

1 September 1909 (2-2)

26 April 1913 (W 5-2)

21 November 1914 (W 4-1)

 

Edit: just read Maidstone Blue's post. Maidstone Blue, thanks for giving the date. The only time we played Notts County in the thirties was on 22 February 1930 and we won 3-1. In the old Division 2.

Loved that!  Training on the pitch!  and the state of the pitch!!

 

Some of the commentary -  "Micky Droy spends two hours each day attached to a sophisticated and highly expensive piece of machinery" (sub-text - which we won't even trouble to name as you are far too stupid to understand, well we don't anyway)

Well I've had a very enjoyable time this lunchtime watching all these videos.  My reflections on this one:

 

Aww Kenny Swain captain of the Villa side – loved him (he gave me a lift home after we went to watch them train once).

 

The pitch at the Bridge looks huge.

 

A 17 year old in goal! Wow!

 

The players look much tubbier.

 

How long are the highlights because they only showed two games – so much better than just the few minutes we get now.

 

And wow those shorts!

Ha ha brilliant. Met Mel Smith when he filmed an episode of Colin's Sandwich in my local. Really nice bloke he spent most of the day drinking, smoking cigars and backing horses.

I used to wear an Eddie McCreadie's blue and white army silk scarf round the wrist happy days. They didn't look quite right if you wore them as a normal scarf if memory serves.

Yeah it had to be round the wrist. Wish I still had mine. And the wooden rattle my brother made in woodwork!

I've still got my old wooden rattle, I bought it as plain wood and hand painted it royal blue and white, with Shed on one side and Ossie on the other side !

I give it a good swing when we beat the Arsenal, just to wind up the Mrs as she supports Arsenal. Happy days

I remember for the FA cup we had two wooden rattles and some sort of paper/cardboard clacker things that came free with a newspaper (the Sun?) in the living room.  It was quite a challenge swinging the rattle without taking someone's head off!
