When was the season opener v Oldham, Harfords 1st game for us....memory fading

Mick Harford scored a blinder. It was the first time keepers couldn't handle the ball from a backpass. Beasant made a terrible hash of a clearance leaving the Oldham player an empty goal and it was in the last bloody minute.

A brilliant goal from a player who was more mercilessly barracked by our fans than any Chelsea player I've ever known:

That was, I think, Forest's first defeat of the season oñ their way to walking the league, and then winning two successive European Cups. We were clearly better than them the year before, but while we parted company with the manager who took us up and invested £0 in strengthening the team (leading to relegation a year later), Forest splashed out on a couple of key players like Gemmill and Shilton and achieved unimaginable success.

Interesting times to be a Chelsea fan back then..,.

De je vue ! They say football goes and life in general goes in cycles.......Leicester city could be the new Nottingham forest ! Who knows.

I remember the north stand from the 1960's when my dad and grandad introduced me to Stamford bridge. I felt like Royalty sitting up so high in the old north stand.

Every year their fans would turn up too.

Anyone remember a pre season friendly away at Brentford and Beasant was in goal, he was rubbish and we lost 4-2 (I think). The woman sat next to me said kept saying how she wished the crowd would stop booing him, in the end I asked why, she said "he's my husband"

I was there Paul Elliot's first game there were a few we hate Celtic chants. Also Andy Myers debut I think. He looked good played in midfield was wasted at left back. That game meant I had done all the London clubs apart from Barnet.

Regarding the Oct 1974 footage of our 3-3 v Stoke. I was appealing for offside watching their third goal !

Nearly 42 years on :blush2:

Sad I know.

It's funny I can recall some goals/incidents from the 70s far easier than ones we have scored in the past 12 mths.

Ossie with a beard - Fair play to you for remembering. I can't remember - too many beers !

I will have to dig out the programme of the following home match to have a look at the photo of him scoring.

I was in the old east stand that night against Club Brugge and remember the whole stadium was really rocking that night.

Have you got any pics of the following season 71 to 72, when we beat the Luxembourg team 21 - 0 on aggregate : our highest and I believe to be still the overall highest record in European football ( 8 - 0 away in 1st leg) and 13 - 0 at home in the 2nd leg) ?

I remember that my dad was at the home tie and said it was really boring.  As a kid, I just didn't understand how winning 13-0 could be boring!  Even now, I don't thing I'd get bored of winning by that score!

I was at the 13-0 match. I loved it.
