Nice to see the ball boy in mid 80's winter wear CFC ski hat, I Wonder if it has rangers on the other side? Second picture wolves quarter final 94? Only time I can remember smoke bomb in Shed Yeah when I saw that ski hat I thought 'Is it a Chelsea/Rangers half in half ski hat?' too' Also very mid 1980s.
June 5, 20179 yr After the 1970 Cup Final at Wembley. Eddie is saying to Bremner: "wait to the replay and me kicking you in the head."

I know that my parents got our first colour tv just before the 1974 World Cup Finals. I suspect that happened for many families in Scotland in the spring of 1974. I was seven. My grandparents, who lived just along the road had got their first colour tv a year earlier. I remember asking my grandad why the tv had six buttons for channels when there was only 3. BBC 1,2 and ITV? Yes only 3 tv channels back then!
June 6, 20179 yr When looking for something else. Chelsea played Rangers on two consecutive days back in June 5th and 6th 1954. First game was in Toronto when Chelsea we won 4-1 in front of 17,000. Then both teams travelled to New York where the next day a 0-0 draw in front of 12,864.
June 6, 20179 yr The two games were on a Saturday and Sunday respectively in 1954 and we played in New York at Randall Island. I would imagine apart from tour matches neither team would have ever played much on a Sunday back then.

I think that my parents didn't get a colour TV until the late seventies. The first FA Cup final which I watched on a colour TV was the one in 1973 when Sunderland beat Leeds - I was invited to a neighbour's to watch the match. Ah, three channels. I remember all the coverage in 1982(?) when Channel 4 was launched, the first new channel since the fifties. It was seen as a big thing having a new channel.

Yeah I remember the fuss that was made when Channel 4 was launched. I also remember that there was a documentary on Ipswich Town covering their 1981/82 season when they finished, again runners up for the second consecutive season.
June 6, 20179 yr We,like many others rented our tv back in the 1970s. Think it was from Visionhire? We got a brand new bought tv and video recorder in 1984. Both bought with some of my old man shipyard redundancy money. Thought we were kings.

Radio Rental, the shop used to be on the High St, remember my dear old Mum, going in and making the payments, I think every week in the early 1970's. Got our first colour telly in 1972. Remember when we first got colour, staring at the BBC test card logo in colour, being just fascinated. Edited June 6, 20179 yr by Osgood is Good
June 6, 20179 yr The first television appeared in our street about 1955 and attracted all the kids. There must have been 50 of us crammed into the front room watching Champion The Wonder Horse, Lone Ranger and Fury. We got our TV a few years later and rented it from D E R. Bloody massive thing with a 9 inch screen. The first sport I can remember seeing was wrestling and hill climbing which was old bangers racing up a steep incline with the old man driving and the missus bouncing up and down in the back to get better traction! We were riveted.
