One man & his dog...

Shown is a photo from the Chelsea archives of our head groundsman for many, many years George Anstiss, and his pet dog looking at the playing surface in the goalmouth at the north end of the ground. The old north terrace and a rudimentary electronic scoreboard can be seen behind the goal. George’s son John is still on the groundstaff today.

I wonder if the dog is thinking '' Where's that cat that's normally in goal here'' ?

Seeing that Chelsea team picture from our first ever season 1905/06.

What is the earliest footage of a Chelsea game?

Apologies if this has been asked before and the answer turns out to be obvious !

Have found this on youtube from 1918 when we played Stoke. Doesn't say where the game was played.

You're right, colour licence was more money. My dad's mate worked at Radio Rentals in Beckenham High St. Think they had a moody deal going on.

I grew up in Beckenham, our paths may have crossed!!

It is very possible. I'm an old f**k now at 55.

Used to go to "The Beckenham" and "La Trecs" (excuse the spelling) in the early 80's, Champagne bar in the nineties. Also Dr Crippens in Bromley South early 80's and there were a few bars Bromley North (not far from Allders),

Also used to sometimes venture out to Croydon and Purley

To answer my own question of What the earliest film footage of Chelsea is. I'm sure there is some footage of us in the 1915 FA Cup Final v Sheffield United.

' The Khaki Final ' as it because know as. This is due to the vast numbers of soldiers dressed in their Khaki uniforms in attendance.
