January 7, 20188 yr 7th January 1978. FA Cup 3rd Round. We beat Liverpool 4-2 at The Bridge in front of 45,449. Walker in the 16th and 65th min. Finneston in the 50th and Langley in the 52nd minute. They were at the time English and European Champions. Some win. Highlights are on youtube and I believe this result was a major factor in Liverpool going and buying Graeme Souness from Middlesbrough not long afterwards. This was Charlie Cooke's last game for us.

And we beat them 3-1 in the league next year. Trevor Aylott scored and had a blinder. It was all downhill for him from then on.

January 8, 20188 yr @Carshalton Blue Great article about Hughie Gallacher. Thanks for posting. Gallacher was one of the famous Scotland team known as the Wembley Wizards which beat England 5-1 at Wembley in 1928. Gallacher didn't score but Scotland's left-back in the game was Chelsea's Tommy Law.

January 8, 20188 yr We've been well served by Scots over the decades- in my time there was pretty much a Calaedonian or two playing for us throughout the 70's, 80's, early 90's ( I'm sure there has but can't off top of my head think of any since Craig Burley/ Wee John Spencer) Remember getting exited when David Haye signed off the back of the 74 World Cup. Also recall settling down to watch Scotland v England/ Home International at Hamden. Reckon it was 85- anyway we were well pleased to see Dixon and Speedie making their debuts I reckon?

Found this about Scots who have played for Chelsea. Some great players. Includes our first manager john Tait Robertson. Like you, i can't think of any Scots who have played for us after Burley and Spencer. Speedie did make his debut in the Scotland v England game in 1985. Dixon made his debut for England against Mexico in early 1985. In the game against Scotland at Hampden Dixon was on the bench. http://thechels.info/wiki/Category:Scottish_Chelsea_players

One of the things I remember most about Clarke was the goal he scored against Liverpool. A left foot strike. I think it was in his last season for us. Am trying to find a video of it.
