We were standing towards the lower left hand corner of the Clock End as you look down from this angle.

Funnily enough I don’t remember it being super packed as in Loftus Road, once at White Hart Lane and Grimsby.

It doesn’t look too comfortable perched on corrugated iron at the back there.

Ps Corrugated iron is one of those things you don’t see these days

1 May 1977 LWT - The Big Match: Chelsea behind the scenes

Some footage behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge before a Chelsea league game in 1977. Skipper Ray Wilkins can be seen discussing with manager Eddie McCreadie.

Poor Ray Wilkins, protecting his modesty with a towel, due to his superstition of not putting his shorts on until the last minute!  Great to see what went on behind the scenes, and compare the old style dressing room with the luxury players have today.

And to think that the "old style dressing room" was relatively new back in 1977 !

Brian Clough had a rant about the dressing rooms once. The headline the next day was something like “ Chelsea Pighole”

The fact Forest got beat might have had something to do with it.

I've just finished reading Brian Mears' book, and he mentions this.  Apparently Mears received a typed letter of apology from Clough a few days later, he'd signed it, and then handwritten "I still think it's a pighole"!

A few posts above we were wondering what Mears' version was of the McCreadie resignation. I once read Eddie Mac had a change of heart after resigning and tried to get his job back (but was turned down by Mears), but I've also read the opposite, that Mears tried to get Eddie to stay but he wouldn't retract his resignation.

What did Mears write about that in his book?

Possibly our 1-0 win over them in Nov 1977 ?

Sounds about right. The headline was in my older brothers long lost Chelsea scrapbook, which covered 76-78

No it was our 2-1 win in 1977 I was at the game Super Jock Steve Finnieston scoring the winner. He also had a go at the dugouts saying they gave a terrible view. Considering it was only 3 years old and cost a fortune that was a pretty damming verdict of the East Stand by Clough.

I'll find it and post some quotes up later.

6 weeks ago, I did the Museum & Ground tour. Very interesting couple of hours, & no away club Manager would say that now.
According to our host, our away dressing room is the biggest in the Premiership & it was a good size with ample facilities.
After that, we went into the home dressing room. Jeez, talk about all luxuries. Even the small locker draw where they put their Watch's, car keys, jewellery etc are felt lined, so nothing can get scratched!.

Chelsea v Charlton at Wembley in the Football League Cup Final in 1944.

"It's handball and referee Gibb points an accusing finger at where the ACCIDENT happened."......"Genial George Allison, manager of the Arsenal." Love it! Harry Enfield must have studied loads of clips like this for his Cholmondely Warner sketches. I can remember my dad always referring to "the Arsenal", probably because of the armaments factory at Woolwich, rather than just Arsenal. I don't think anybody calls them the Arsenal nowadays do they?
