Those that chose to gain entry anyway possible including those on roofs of the stands. We’re they classed as hooligans? I've read that there 100,000 at the game. As you say a must see game. I knew a guy who was at the match. At the time he lived in the North End Road and bunked off school to go to the game. I suspect that getting onto the roofs of stands was a doddle to those who had served in WW2 and probably climbed more difficult structures. Reckon the police turned a blind eye to people getting in for nothing and not via the turnstiles. Different times.

We must have been one of the first to have an electric scoreboard- did they display adverts on it? - can’t imagine too many neutrals being swayed to visit the Bridge cause of it “ Yeah thinking of going to Chelsea. Piss poor football but cracking scoreboard “ Just how did Leeds smash it up- form a human pyramid and headbutt the thing? Never got football wanton vandalism- ripping out the plumbing at the Baseball Ground which Bates got awarded the bill for etc. West Ham and Millwall derided us a wreckers rather than ruckers. Then again Millwall weren’t adverse to a spot of seat throwing- they also tried to dismantle the Clock in the Clock End Highbury- Pot Kettle...

I was on the pitch in 84 so didn't see them do it but apparently the old bill sent in the SPG who battered them and were scraping Leeds fans off the terraces 😆, Against Sheffield United there's an ad behind the shed for a soft porn film only released in Soho and Pread Street cinemas.

I'd read about spoil heaps from the District Line works around West Brompton and Walham Green being used for the terraces but not from between Edgware and Farringdon. Good use of the heaps for the terraces. Must have been a good few tons for the old West Stand.
