Very good in places, a few great set piece bits, but fell short in too many other ways especially the overall story, charachter development and pacing. probably a 7ish/10 for me compared to 9.9/10 for the original. Pretty much every reviewer giving it a 10/10 is calling it a masterpiece. I just don't see it. I was watching Jim Sterling's review of the game on Youtube and I think he summed it up perfectly. He said "I don't think I've ever played something so over promised. A game for which it's accomplishments have been so thoroughly overstated" I think that is spot on.

This is up there with Zelda: Breath of Wild as one of the most overrated games I have seen. It's another one of these weirdly scored games in the reviews, same as death stranding. "Looks breath taking, poor game play, has some problem".....10/10.. It got hammered on metacritic by users, then metacritic banned any negative scores. Its basically Woke - the video game so everyone is terrified of upsetting the Twitter mental and being cancelled.

The best fantasy stories are always best when they stay somewhat grounded, aren't excessive and follow a sort of set of world rules established around the game, film or series (that probably comes across terribly but hopefully makes sense), that is something that both the Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones do really well in my opinion (Game of Thrones f**ked that up in numerous places with the TV show in the last 2-3 series though). I haven't played the latest AC and only started the Egypt one before getting bored and loosing interest incredibly quickly but for me the series lost "it" when it became clear they had no idea what they were doing, especially with the modern world part of the story, when they killed Desmond off. The London one was good IMO but almost felt completely different or like it had no relevence to the previous ones. Can anyone still playing them explain what exactly the story is now? Don't worry about spoiling it... I doubt I'll ever get around to playing them again🤣 I think that Game of Thrones is just bad at that when it comes to the TV show, the rules simply don't apply to the main characters at all. E.g. when little Arya being around 12-15 years old gets stabbed in the guts multiple times and falls down a bridge only to be fully capable of swimming and running like nothing happened, there is where I would welcome any explanation of fantasy or magic involved in her still being alive but the presentation is just plain awful she is just that amazing girl that can survive all that even without any magic or anything... AC drifted away from the initial storyline and is now pretty much like a totally separate game, the last one that connected the first 3 games was maybe Unity or Syndicate and from that point on the franchise took a new path and IMO that's why most older fans of AC dislike the new games.

Don't think there's any explanation for it beyond piss poor writing and no continuity or consistancy after they overan the books! They could've had the exact same sequence simply without the stabbing and that problem (amongst soooo many others in the last few seasons) wouldn't have been an issue. Anyone play horizon zero dawn? Hadn't even heard of it until family got it for my birthday but that was good, story probably more interesting than the gameplay itself as it got a bit samey but well worth a go.
June 28, 20206 yr Just finish Last of Us 2. Enjoyed it, it dragged in places and a few bits felt tediously annoying but I’m struggling to understand the hate. The ending wasn’t great either but my main annoyance is the credits taking longer than the game I also don’t get the anger over it because it’s got LGBT and trans characters, seriously if that upsets you and stop you enjoying a bloody video game then you need to get a f**king life!
July 1, 20206 yr Is it easy enough to go back and select chapters @Munkworth once you've done the story?

July 1, 20206 yr Ah just finding out if it’s easy enough to go back and pick up trophies missed for platinum.
July 1, 20206 yr I’m enjoying TLOU2 so far. Though I am only 3/4 hours in. The guitar scenes are incredible - pure genius.

July 7, 20206 yr Finished the last Deponia game. Haven't enjoyed a Point and Click that much since the Lucas Arts days. Highly recommend the series if you're a fan of games like Monkey Island. Left me a bit deflated for numerous reasons but largely because I've now a thirst for a new point and click with the same sort of dark humour and I've played most of the classics and the best Telltale games.
July 14, 20206 yr Reviews for Ghost of Tsunami are our today. Be interesting to see what they’re like. Skater XL is also out at the end of July. Been ages since a good Skateboarding game came out on the PS4
July 14, 20206 yr I don’t listen to reviews anymore, they’re usually tripe. It doesn’t look like the sort of game I’d enjoy anyway.
July 15, 20206 yr They’re useful for getting an idea for a game. Ghost of Tshauni got 9/10 for what it’s worth.

July 17, 20206 yr Been play Metro Exodus which is full of annoying bugs and vague trophies. Having to replay two chapters already because of bugs or not doing something exactly right.
July 17, 20206 yr I'm making my 3rd attempt at getting into Witcher 3. On the first 2 i got just past where you kill that Griffin near the beginning but it has never managed to hold my attention despite being what i would think was exactly my type of game. Can anyone reassure me that sticking with it this time will be worth it?🤣 If that fails I might re-visit Alien Isolation which despite being repetative is one of the best designed and most atmospheric games I've ever played. A must for fans of the films.
July 18, 20206 yr Struggling a little with TLOU2. Finding it abit slow and repetitive. Sounds odd given the incredible reviews. I think maybe I’ve missed abit of the storyline so I’m not quite sure what I’m doing.

I loved metro exodus, though it was a bit buggy and I remember having to replay a chapter after it bombed out.

I’m enjoying it, it’s just really frustrating trying to get the trophies with all the bugs. I might end up getting a save for the ranger hardcore mode trophy unless it stacks with NG+ difficulty ones. I’m struggling to get Damir to stay at the moment
July 20, 20205 yr Bought AO Tennis 2 as it was on sale for £19. Good little blast. Really hard playing online. Got destroyed on my online match.
July 22, 20205 yr One of the few famous games that I played was Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim, so I'm really curious to see how the 6th game will turn out to be. The overall design of a game like Skyrim is outdated IMO, even so you just get lost in that world and create your own mini-story within a story, obviously mods made the game better I liked to gather stuff for crafting an epic weapon...So I hope they make Elder Scroll 6 good, the feel of Skyrim was iconic.

Loved the game and the world was gorgeous but it was/is so samey.... the quests, the armour and weapons, the NPCs. Not enough uniqueness if that makes sense. Its frustrating that game I loved and spent hundreds of hours on has so much more potential to be fulfilled
