As I said at halftime. We bought Mata for matches like today and he didn't disappoint, he made the Sturridge goal and then gave the assist for Ramires'.

How lucky we are that Arsene is a cheapskate.

I'm not usually Mikel's greatest fan but today he controlled the midfiled without frills, kept us ticking and tidied up when needed to. Good games from Mata and Ramires.

Both my girlfriend and I thought Mata was massively wasteful today, but I said to her "I bet you someone on the forum voted him as motm though" which she was sceptical about.

2 absolutely world class assists for the goals against a "lets park the bus-team" is enough for MotM. Mikel was good and so was JT. Ivan is to blame for the goal but otherwise he was flawless.

Is Drogs on malaria again or what is slowing him down all of a sudden? Don't tell me it is the age. He is back from an injury but very slow and no power.

Didn't see the match, but everything I read points to Mata being a pretty clear-cut MOTM.

Exactly, the kind of player he is means he will give the ball away. If he tries 5 incisive passes and we score from 1 then he`s done his job. He is out there to try the difficult things, especially against teams that sit back and defend in numbers. At times this will see him give the ball away, other times we will score form them, like we did today.

Wasteful?! did we even watch the same match? 2 world class assists, great movement out on the pitch and always available when someone else has the ball + his skill and creativity out there.

He even got the Barclays Player of the match award so I suggest you take a look at MOTD when you get the chance where they talked Mata a lot.

Mikel did well with Fellaini today I thought also, but not MOM.

Mata is everything Joe Cole should have been.

I was surprised to hear so many people moan on the way out, we beat one of our problem teams with relative ease.

Mata was perhaps not brilliant, but he was really good and had two nice assists. Mikel was also good, but he did get his positioning wrong on quite a few occasions.

On reflection I do actually think Mata was MOTM but I was so impressed with Ramires, the guys just an engine. He was box to box for the time he was on.

Okay, seems I was wrong, and will try and check out Match of the Day. I don't know what it is about him, I just find him to be rather over-rated on here, and generally not as effective as people make out.

I think he does offer something different, something we desperately needed, and haven't had since Arjen Robben sadly left us a few years ago. But it's because he's a bit different that I wonder whether some people build him up beyond his recent performances, but I am very excited that he's a Chelsea player and think he can offer us a lot going forward.

Ramires was great again yesterday yeah, he is probably my favourite Chelsea player right now ^

What's the matter with Mata? Nothing, as a matter of fact. He was very good. Man of the match.

Sturridge has 12 goals in his last 18 PL games, more than Torres, Drogba and Anelka have managed between them in the last 18 months.

Ramires was just his usual self .. absolutely f**king brilliant.

Mata's different class, watch the MOTD analysis. He's just so good on the ball, he's good under pressure, he finds space when it seems there is none, his technique is excellent, etc. I don't think he's overrated.

Mata overrated?...most classy player we've signed in years and some people don't know what the fuss is about?!...last season we would have drawn that game...therein lies the difference...
