Surprised there's no game thread for this one.

Torres must start. Luiz should start too. Hope Romeu gets a look in. He's been very impressive so far.

Discuss.

Certainly the points would be helpful. In the last few games, and in fact starting with the ManU game we have started to show real flashes of slick passing in attack and lots of speed. Mostly though it breaks down in front of goal.

Losing Ramires is a big blow.

Torres certainly does need to play. I guess Mereiles will come in for Ramires although I might once again to Josh.

I would start:

....................Cech

...Ferreira...Luiz...Alex...Bertrand

....................Romeu

.........Meireles...McEachran

...Sturridge.......................Anelka

....................Torres

Thats how I would start it. Only keep in Sturridge from the week-end as he's young and got the legs for it. Rests some key players whilst also looking strong.

I don't think we'll see wholesale changes, also given that Romeu and Bertrand just played a full game for the ressies, I don't think we'll see either of them feature either.

What I can see is:

Bossie....Luiz....Terry.....Cole

..................Mikel

...........Mereiles..Malouda

..Sturridge......................Nico

...................Torres

I definitely think Torres needs to start!! A goal for him in this game will be crucial!!

Cech, Ivan, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Mikel, Meireles, Lampard, Malouda, Torres, Anelka.

Would like to see AVB give Ivan a proper chance at RB instead of relying on Bosingwa. Would also like to give some match time to Nico and Flo.

Looking forward to seeing Torres again. Stupid red!

Should be a demolition at the bridge considering both our "on paper" superiority and how woeful Genk have been in their domestic league, so I hope its a confidence boosting day - and most importantly we keep a fricken clean sheet.

3 points at home to this lot is a must because we want to win the group and we have to go to Leverkuson and Valencia are no mugs.

Luiz will start, the rest of the back four is up for grabs.

Mereiles will start. The rest of the midfield is up for grabs.

As for attack? Anyone's guess.

Would be good to see some youngsters at least off the bench.

£40 at home to Genk midweek? Josh McEachran please.

Would be great to see Josh get a game but as he played for the reserves yesterday, I would be very surprised to see him selected.

Shame, as it would be an ideal game for him (wish I had a pound for every time I've said that now!!)

I'd like to see some fringe players get a start. Of course this isn't an easy game and we really need the three points from it so it's not like we should rest the big names, but perhaps start a couple of them on the bench and give players like Ferreira a start. Would also like to see Josh play, but that wont happen (perhaps get a few minutes near the end if he's even on the bench). Kalou could play as well and of course Torres has to start since he's suspended in the league (it's just for one more game, right?).

So:

Cech

Ferreira - Alex - Luiz - Cole

Meireles - Mikel - Lampard

Kalou - Torres - Mata

Could go with Malouda instead of Mata since the latter has played rather a lot for us so far. And I would not object to see Romeu play, perhaps instead of Mikel.

As for resting Terry, I'm not sure he needs it but I would like to see Alex get a game and Luiz should also be fit to play now, having rested this weekend.

Yes, one more game so QPR will be the last game he has to sit out because of suspension.

Can't wait to see Torres again, although he may be a little bit rusty. Still, even if he's not firing on all cylinders, we should be able to win this game easily and give some match fitness to him. After he sits out QPR we have Everton and Arsenal in the same week, so having Torres looking like he did pre-red card is vital.

Is Kevin de Bruyne still injured? I would love to see what our future playmaker looks like!

Kevin de bruyne had played a few games, but his form is really poor at the moment. So dont expect to much from him.And he is a winger

Beg to differ Scott, Romeu didn't play at all for the reserves this week. You might be getting confused with Romelu (Lukaku)

Wild guess..

Chelsea 4 - 1 Genk

Sturridge '7

Sturridge '11

Ivanovic (o.g) '42

Torres '51

Drogba '88

You do know that if you're correct we will have to burn you at the stake :frizz2:

He'd probably rest Drogba and give Torres the 90 minutes, but if Torres scores its anyones guess how he manages to tarnish it this time!
