Kevin De Bruyne

Featured Replies

I hope we keep hold of him as he has genuine promise as well as versatility. Especially as he can play as a winger which the rest of our team seem unable to do!

Sounds like great news. Take ZO's lineup, flip Mata and Kevin, and I would be happy as hell to see that next year, going from one of the oldest lineups in the league to one of the youngest

Is the Ealing thing right then, I saw it on his Wiki page and thought it must be a wind up. But then I do remember it being mentioned before the CL games.

Yeah, I had heard that before, according to wiki its just his mother.

Watching Anderlecht - Genk now, guess who's been assisting one goal and setting up the second goal?

Heard after first half: "A two-nill lead mastered by the excellent De Bruyne". Me like.

Everybody at the away ground was standing and clap their hands for him!

Everything started a few matches ago when he was placed on the CM position, much better than his winger position.

Played at Anderlecht, number one in the league. De Bruyne again played in central midfield. Best man on the pitch, spraying passes around the pitch and assisting the first goal. De Bruyne was subbed in the 91st minute and received a standing ovation from both the visiting Genk fans ând the home crowd, first time i saw that in Anderlecht.

We are really going to miss him next year, no chance that his replacement will be even near as good as De Bruyne.

Any compilations of this performances this half of the season? Sounds like he's really impressing, I really hope we don't loan him out next year and waste another year like we do with so many decent young players. Give him a chance in the team for goodness sake. Same goes for Ryan, Josh, Piazon, etc...

It's a good problem to have, but KDB and Kakuta have both been having good months playing as 10s right now, which is obviously where most of us think Mata's best at. Would be nice to come up with a formation that could fit both in the midfield. However, we'll probably see the two youngsters deployed as wingers (if they are here next year at all) and then wonder why they aren't performing well.

DB played a superb game last night(1-3 win against Anderlecht) , currently he's playing on the 10 position and is doing just great , every pass , every action comes from his foot.

John Chapman ? @BelgoFoot

Note Kevin De Bruyne (in central midfield) involved in 12 of last 16 goals Genk have scored (10 assists, 2 goals) in last 8 games. #cfc

If you'd like to get news about KDB you should follow this guy on twitter. A lot of valid news about KDB and the Belgium league in general.

If the man is loaned again next season (he will be playing here if we miss CL IMO) then it has to be somewhere in England. I see no point whatsoever loaning him to another league where the defending is non-existent.

Provided we don't sign a no. 6/regista I think Mata could be moved deeper similar to where he played for Spain, with de Bruyne occupying a central attacking role. Lampard is ample cover in both positions. However like Spiller I want him loaned out to an acclimatising league such as the German leagues or Championship where he can play against a better athletic standard.

I think we should try and get an understanding with A.Madrid and send them some of our promising stars to get a good level of football.

Im bothered how everyone is writing him off already, as far the next season goes. Sure hes pitted against weak opposition, but you can only beat whats put in front of you. Theres a preseason ahead so lets just see how that goes

He's also 22 and looks top class in a central position.

This.

Both Kakuta and De Bruyne were bought to be wide players. If they succeed at Chelsea, that's where they'll have to play. They're not going to displace Mata as the #10.

I can't see that we can do anything but bring him back for next season in a first team role, i.e the same as Studge, few in, few out.

Now I love ramires as he has the attitude and work ethic that will endear him to any football fan, as he works and works and works. Despite this, and some decent performances of late, He IS NOT and attacking right midfielder.

If we are going to play with more width (which I think we all hope for) then we need someone to play that role properly as Ramires would be better back as part of the midfield 2. If we decide to go out and spend money on a AMR then why bother buying KDB.

This of course depends on next years manager, and therefore next years system

I wouldn't compare De Bruyne's current position with Mata's current position. Mata is playing higher up the pitch then De Bruyne does. De Bruyne isn't playing as a number 10 at the moment, more like a number 8. We are playing with only two players in central midfield, with De Bruyne ofcourse as the most attacking of the two. But his positioning is very smart, when there's no space he often drops deep to come and collect the ball, play it to the winger/striker and then move forward really quick to receive the ball again. This makes it very hard to mark him.

If he can be injury-free for the rest of the season and next season's pre-season, i can see him playing his part at Chelsea. But he really has to play next season. He isn't 18 like Lukaku is. De Bruyne has to play to keep getting better.

In Genk De Bruyne has never played on the right side of the midfield. Most of his games he played in a rather free role on the left side of midfield. That position gives him the possibilty to cut inside with his right foot. Last 6 games he's playing in central midfield. In the youth-system he played as a number 10 with just one striker in front of him.

Thats fair enough. I honestly thought he was Out wide right but I will not question you as yo clearly have better knowledge of that league than me.

Reading your earlier post I appreciate your opinions on him

Ah thanks for the clarification, I thought he was playing higher up the pitch. So his position has been more Xavi/Modric rather than Mata's position?

Yes, more like Modric and even a younger Lampard, kind of like the engine of the team.

De Bruyne needs experience to the PL tempo, that's all. He has technical ability far beyond all our midfielders (except Mata), specially when it comes to crossing and passing. If he can adapt to the high tempo style in PL for us, then this could be another Frank Lampard (of course, it's far away). I see much more potential in KDB than I saw in Lampard when he arrived here from West Ham.

That is correct. That is the position he is excelling in at the moment.

His stamina is good enough for that position. Don't know if he's good enough defensively to play that position in the Premier League, especially against the more physical teams. Although you could compare his body with Modric', Modric has much more experience.

You can view some media about his performance on saturday at :

You probably won't understand much they are saying , but after 2:40 minutes you can see some of his good moments. Love the little touch at 3:02. Don't be mistaken by how high he is on the pitch sometimes, they are just showing his most attacking moments.

At the end you can see him losing the ball two times, resulting in conceding one goal. Defense didn't look that good either though.
