February 7, 201313 yr Neil Ashton?@neilashton_ Roman makes his move: he wants Frank Lampard to stay another year. It had to happen. On Sportsmail Online soon.
February 7, 201313 yr A lot of reports saying that he's about to be offered a new contract . Thank god.
February 7, 201313 yr Neil Ashton ?@neilashton_ Roman makes his move: he wants Frank Lampard to stay another year. It had to happen. On Sportsmail Online soon. If he breaks the goal scoring record this season, does he want to stay another year or will he "do a Drogba" and quit right after making history? Edited February 7, 201313 yr by Maksimov
February 7, 201313 yr Jose, Frank and Ash won't make up for sacking RDM and letting a fat mess ruin our season but it will begin to start the healing process.Do it Roman, Just do it.
February 7, 201313 yr Author its all over all the papers now. This pleases me greatly if true. Edited February 7, 201313 yr by Zola

February 7, 201313 yr Clutching at straws a bit, but I wonder if the reports of Romans talking to Jose about coming back are true, maybe he stipulated that he had to keep Frank on.... Either way, great news if it's true.
February 7, 201313 yr It would make sense, Jose in talks and he is saying who he wants to stay. Frank and Ash are a must.
February 7, 201313 yr And not before time. Now as well as the goal scoring record, which is surely bound to come, we can also hopefully look forward to Frank Lampard becoming the second Chelsea player to achieve 100 England caps.
February 7, 201313 yr We were heading for a PR disaster, apart from anything. The season ends, Lampard is one goal short of the record, we release him, against the wishes of the fans, the club loses a little bit more of its soul, the fans become increasingly disenfranchised, the media have a field day, big bad Chelsea really are the scum of the earth. Of course, Lampard could finish the season one short of the record and then we offer him a new contract, but it would feel like we were holding on to him just so he could break the record and his achievement, once he gets there, will be tarnished, because it would feel like we pushed him over the line. Of course, he could break the record this season and it all becomes redundant, we would just lose a very good player. There is a real concern for me and that is KDB. He will come back next term and he needs to play and he operates in the same position as Lampard. If Lampard stays I really hope he accepts sitting more games out, because that time has come, in my humble opinion, just as it is coming for England. Doesn't mean he can't still do a job, doesn't mean he isn't a valuable member of the squad, with a lot to offer, it just means it's time for the new kid on the block to take over. Kids deserve to play if they are good enough, and KDB is good enough, from what I can tell.
February 7, 201313 yr I've noticed he's stopped celebrating goals by pointing and looking towards "the heavens". Any idea when he stopped doing that?
February 7, 201313 yr Author ill wager you a considerable amount that he'll do it when he breaks the record ;) Edited February 7, 201313 yr by Zola
February 7, 201313 yr I've noticed he's stopped celebrating goals by pointing and looking towards "the heavens". Any idea when he stopped doing that? because god aint given him his wish of no FSW at the bridge yet!
February 7, 201313 yr Maksimov, once you hit a certain age it gets difficult to arch your neck upwards.
February 7, 201313 yr Maksimov, once you hit a certain age it gets difficult to arch your neck upwards. I'm just a few months younger than Frank, so does that mean It's gonna happen to me real soon as well? Then again, his current celebrations are bit wilder than they used to be.
February 7, 201313 yr Maybe KDB could do with a loan move to a team like Swansea next season. Please god no! What would be the point in that considering he is a top player already in a top league? Must we continue playing defenders in midfield when talents like this are shifted about to appease some fans?
February 7, 201313 yr A lot of reports saying that he's about to be offered a new contract . Thank god. I'm not getting excited until this is either made official or at the very least mentioned by a source that is more reliable than Neil Ashton and The Daily Mail.
February 7, 201313 yr He started doing it after his mum passed away. Yeah, I know. I was just wondering when he stopped doing it. I don't think he's done it for a while now, but only recently I paid attention to it.
February 7, 201313 yr Hopefully something more official comes out before long, but he deserves an extra years contract as his form is decent, and fitness still very good. Age is just a number, too much attention is paid to it, rather than the player the age belongs to.
February 7, 201313 yr Interesting the swell of support for him recently. Felt like last season, couple of posters including myself were facing hordes demanding his exit. Now it seems imperative that he stays.

KDB does need to come back, but I hope it is to offer us versatility and creativity in the wing positions and AM.
