The Frank Lampard goal scoring record thread

Featured Replies

Our goalscoring record (202) is lower than that of most other big clubs (Everton, Liverpool, Spurs, Utd, Villa, Leeds, Arsenal, Forest, Newcastle).

Compared to our London rivals, our goalscoring record is also below that of Wet Spam, but above that of everyone else.

The only current major club in England with a lower record is City.

On team level as well. Looking only at the points we're 6th (3828) on the all time table (checking points per games we are above both Everton and Villa, so 4th if we discount Wimbledon and Swansea who barely played in the top div compered to us), with Arsenal (5144) as the only London team above us (spuds have 11 points less). Looking at goals scored we're down to 10th (4776 goals), below Arsenal (6415) and just behind Spuds (4928). And finally looking at goals per games we're down at 22nd (1.5123), with the previous London order above: Arsenal (1.6474) and Spuds (1.5625).

p.s.: The hamsters are way below us in all aspects.

And if we win our 735 games in hand we go top!

^ I imagine, if and when Lampard scores the record-breaking goal, rather than celebrate, Benitez will call over one of the full-backs and give him some tactical advice.

Oh, let's be open-minded.

If it's late in the match, Benitez might throw on a new full-back instead.

And if it's very late and he all the doughnuts, he might just throw up...

Is the general consensus on here that Frank is better then Stevie G?

I've been talking to quite a few people lately, mostly fans of other teams but also a few Chelsea fans, and they all seem to think Gerrard is better?

I was pretty surprised.

You know Chelsea fans who think Stevie me is better than Frank?  Cross them off your Christmas card list immediately!!

Instead of an opinion, I'll give you stats:

Steven Gerrard - 156 goals for club and 19 goals for country.

Frank Lampard - 238 goals for club and 27 goals for country.

I would include the stats for assists as well, but I couldn't find Gerrard's assist total.

I make that point and people insist he's contributed more to the overall play and has had to be in a weaker team, and then they refer me to the 2005 CL final.

God dammit Milan, your second half collapse is the bane of my existence.

I remember people saying Lampard only scored so many because Makelele's presence allowed him to roam upfield.

Then they said Drogba's flick-ons and hold-up play was the only reason he scored.

I wonder what they'll say next?

Oh that's right, they're all deflections.

One game doesn't make a player.

Lampard was second in the world player of the year votes a few years back.... Gerrard has never been close if I am right.

Basically, everything and I mean everything you could use to judge how good a player is, Lampard comes out on top against Gerrard.

Goals scored.

Assists.

Minutes played.

Trophies won.

Individual records, such as Lampard being the first player to score 10+ goals in 10 successive seasons (or whatever the record is).

What I am saying is, besides media/fan bias no one could show me anything to say Gerrard is a better player than our Frank.

You forgot that 90% of them are penalties. As for their assists I think Lampard is second only to Giggs in the Premier League era but I could be wrong.

...people insist he's contributed more to the overall play...

Ask them how do they come to this conclusion?

Just as a curiosity, I came across the all time Premier League assist table. Frank's 2nd and Gerrard is 7th.

so the highlight of that scouse pricks career is a game where he blatantly dived for the penalty? what a player!

Gerrard won the champions league the same year he put in a transfer request and Liverpool fans burnt he's shirt, they seem to forget that selective memory I guess. Good player but over rated

Good player but over rated

Yes. And a repulsive personality as well. Usually people start to feel violent when a DJ actually DOES play Phil Collins...

One of them Latin don't you know, in case no one has ever mentioned that.
