Was about to post this myself.

Juan is a really intelligent guy, he studied journalism at Universidad Politecnica de Madrid so I thought it wouldn't take him long to get fluent in English. Because of his interest in journalism it's hardly surprising to me that he got a blog going.

If you follow his Facebook page and/or his Twitter feed you can keep up with the sightseeing he does around London and parts of the UK.

Good guy and phenomenal footballer - we should be thanking our stars he plays for us.

Few players have come to us and had such an immense impact in the space of a year. Not only is Juan a key player but also a great ambassador for the club. One of the few footballers that puts Twitter/Social Media to good use and for the benefit of the club.

I hope Juan is with us for the rest of his career. An incredible talent and seemingly a great bloke too.

Could very easily see him as captain at some point in the next 5 years, probably the nicest person in football since Zola.

I don't really think his personality is suited for the captaincy at the moment, but he's still very new to English football and the club itself. In five years he could emerge as a real vocal leader on the pitch, time will tell, but I suspect we'll go down a different route.

The armband is going to be an interesting one when John finally hangs up his boots, we've been blessed with a ready made captain for a very long time and it's hard to see any clear candidates emerging at the moment. Obviously we'll likely never have a captain of JT's ilk again, but finding his successor will be a tough process. I suspect Petr will get the nod at first if he hasn't been supplanted by Courtois, and after that we'll look for someone younger.

I think Gary could very well be a good candidate one day.

As for the nicest person in football, you certainly do get that impression from him. Comparison's with Zola really are spot on in a number of ways, personality and temperament wise. As a bit of an introvert myself it's hard not to fall in love with the likes of them.

Okay, enough of my man crush!

I think he spoke English when he came here but it was rougher and so he was reluctant to use it until he was sure he wouldn't make too many mistakes.

But yes, he's a great player and a great guy.

I always hate it when people go to live to an other country and are too lazy to learn the language. That is lazyness norhing else. Juan can easily give full interviews in english although he said almost nothing in english year ago. Great man Mata! Best player in out team at the moment.

Tevez is a one of the worst, i have seen the odd word from him but that's it. It's lazy and in my opinion disrespectful to the language and country it belongs too. But what else should i expect from Tevez, disrespecting things is what he does.

Apparently Tevez had trouble learning Portuguese (!) while he was at Corinthians.

He's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Interesting - I don't think Mata will ever be the vocal "scream at everyone" type leader, but I think he'd be a suitable role-model type leader. His attitude is first class and he can lead by example - eg. Fabregas and Henry at Arsenal.

These days, top teams all have the more vocal players as captains though - I personally would like to see Luiz get the armband down the line, though he'd need to mature a bit more on the pitch before this happens, but having such a huge character as captain would be great, imo. Great captains also seem to find a way to drag their team back into a game kicking and screaming (Keane vs Juventus for example) and this is generally quite hard for a CB to do, but his ability going forward could prove an asset in this regard.

Mata seems to be a very intelligent young man, I remember that video posted which shows him just wandering around London taking in the sights. He said part of the reason he moved to London was for the experience of living here, learning more about our country and culture. He is the kind of player a club must love, a PR delight and (hopefully) a complete pro.

Yep, Carragher is also definitely the 'scream at everyone' type player even though he's not captain.

Yeah but they have Gerrard who is vocal, whilst also leading by example. Not uncommon for teams to have numerous leaders on the pitch - we're at the end of an era where we have had 3 in JT, Lamps and Drog

Thanks Del Bosque, evidently he could not find a space in the Spain squad for Juan Mata. He will come back against the spuds in two weeks even more refreshed.
