Racist gesture towards Welbeck

Featured Replies

Is this different from what is being discussed in the Clattenburg thread? Would you like to give some details here?

I believe it is. Just saw on the bbc sport page and chelsea fc twitter that a fan made a racial gesture at Welbeck last night? Apologies if it has already been mentioned

Yes, that's what is also in the Clatterturd thread, but it's no bad thing to separate the 2 issues.

He may have been a press plant, as has been suggested, or he may just be a complete moron. Even the mighty Chelsea are not exempt from having morons among their supporters.

But one way or another it does not alter Chelsea's right to complain about Clattenburg's behaviour if they have solid proof of it.

If this is genuine then it’s so moronic it’s unbelievable, does the idiot no realize we have a number of black players in our squad and they would too take offense at that gesture?

I don’t buy into the media plant theory as today there is just too much info available which will no doubt see his past traced and the games he has attended.

Ban him for life.

All clubs have these idiots who turn up from time to time. It's just unfortunate it has to be now when racism and Chelsea are still headlines every day.

It's one idiot at the end of the day, every club has a certain amont of moronic fans and this is an example of one of ours.

I find you tend to get a certain amount of unusual characters at the cup games due to the tickets being cheaper and easier to get...

The club have it in hand, if guilty he'll get banned for life, and hopefully the old bill will be having a word, if you have 41'000 people, you're bound to have the odd twat or two.

And to be fair, there were 6,000 of them there yesterday, so the stewards can't catch everything going on.

I am not being funny... (as I did jokingly on the Clattenburg thread) ;

one picture does not prove anything, it does look suspiciously like a monkey gesture, but in action photos of people they can look in all sorts of weird contortions he might be just jumping up out of his seat and his arms were almost in that position.

You would need video, which the club or sky may have.

If they have, ban him end of story

I doubt he was a plant, though the Mail, the Sun and the rest probably had cameras pointed at the crowd in the hope they'd catch a moron doing something moronic.

I'm sure the press will somehow also contrive a story along the lines of everyone around him in the photo found his actions amusing.

They will but they would be stupid to do so since everyone is watching the game. What a f**king idiot. No true Chelsea fan, knowing what is going on now, would do something like this. If found I hope he never gets to watch another game live.

At the same time this takes nothing away from the Clattenburg investigation and nor should it. 2 completely seperate issues.

If his coat had been different potentially lifting his hands from his pockets to clap... Its just the press with nothing better to do.

A media plant seems unlikely. He's likely to be arrested and once you've a name and the town he lives in, you can find out an insane amount of almost everyone nowadays.

The wonder of social media. Even if you keep a low profile, your friends and family probably publish all sorts of identifying info about you.

I AM ABSOLUTELY LIVID ABOUT THIS LATEST RACISM NEWS!!!!

What an absolute C*** this guy is!!!!! I wish I was next to him so I could beat his bloody brains out and show the world that Chelsea FC and REAL Chelsea supporters do not condone racism.

This plank has just dragged our helpless club further into the dirt. After all whats goiing on, this is really the wrong time to do such a thing. He cannot be a Chelsea fan, he just can't! Surly you can't bring yourself to screw the club over by doing something that stupid.

I hope he is caught, heavily fined and banned for life. Better still, I hope I'm the one that catches him.

I would bet good money if you stuck the microscope on fans in most stadiums you will find things like this tbh, It will be interesting to see if they actually do or just leave it at this?

I know Chelsea are not the only club, but after all this scrutiny etc with John Terry and Clattenburg THIS is NOT the time for any fan to do such things (well its never a good time).

What a bellend!!!! This racism is stuff is really killing football. Its killing them game and overshadowing the real talking points that are "EXCITING GOAL FESTS!!"

I'm amazed at the anger directed at this individual based on a picture - some people are very quick to judge others on the flimsiest evidence.

I wonder if the same people who condemn this bloke in this thread were defending JT a few months ago? Same kind of evidence in different circumstances = hypocrisy.

Its clear to see that this guy is making a monkey gesture. Not the best of things to be doing amidst all of the clubs troubles at the moment. This is certainly not flimsy evidence. Common sense prevails on this one.
