Wallace from Brazil:

Chelsea may have more pressing concerns in the striking department but according to reports in Brazil the European champions have secured the services of young right-back Wallace.

The defender, who plays for Fluminense, managed by ex-Al Jazira boss Abel Braga, will reportedly join the Premier League giants in June 2013 for a fee of €5.5 million.

The proposed deal is part of agreement that saw Deco join Fluminense from the Blues back in 2010 which saw Chelsea obtain a first option on one of the Brazilian club's talented youngsters.

It now appears the Blues have exercised that option in recruiting Wallace, a Brazil Under-20 international, who will swell the club's Brazilian contingent to five after David Luiz, Ramires, Oscar and Lucas Piazon.

The signing, if indeed it happens, also further emphasises Chelsea’s recent focus on youth as boss Roberto Di Matteo sets about overhauling his aging squad.

However, the most pressing concern for many Chelsea fans remains the striking position with Fernando Torres cutting an increasingly forlorn figure in recent weeks.

Talk of a January move for Atletico Madrid's prolific marksman Radamel Falcao continues while FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez has also been linked with the club in recent days.

I would expect him to go straight out on loan for a few years like Alex did.

We have Branna and Dave at right back so that will cover us for a good while.

This to me would imply this kid has a lot of talent, if we used our option like that...

Flu have a well known academy. Good few top level players have come from there and this lad seems to be another. Fingers crossed he is anyways. Give Kane something to think about as well, further thats good or bad I don't quite know. Expect the deal to be completed in January and him to be loaned to Flu until summer, where he'll go out on loan. Just like we did with KDB.

I dont get the fuss about Kane. He still has so far to go and to be honest probably wont ever make it into our first team. With the captures of Dave and now Wallace the club cant really rate him that highly either.

Chelsea snap up Brazilian defender Wallace from Fluminense

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Brazilian 18-year-old right-back Wallace from Fluminense in the January transfer window.

Wallace, who was part of the Brazil squad that won the South American U17 championship last year, will remain on loan with their domestic champions until the end of the season.

The attacking full-back made his senior debut earlier this year and has played 18 times in the league for the first team, helping them win the Rio State League and the Guanabara Cup as well as the Brazilian league.

Wallace also helped his country achieve a fourth-place finish at the World Cup in Mexico and is now part of Brazil's U20 side.

He is the third player transferred between Chelsea and Fluminense in recent years, following the transfer of Deco and Juliano Belletti to the South American side in summer 2010.

David Luiz, Ramires, Oscar and Lucas Piazon, who was part of the same Brazil U17 World Cup squad, complete the contingent of Brazilian players currently at Stamford Bridge.

He is on loan to them until the end of the season and i wouldnt be surprised if he went on loan to one of the dutch clubs next season.

yeah, maybe we will recall Kalas and send Wallace in his place

We must not have much faith in Kalas.

The guy who couldnt get the work permit cant remember his name now looked like the best youth defender we had. Im not sure on Kalas or Bruma.

Which is completely ridiculous  If he came now he'd be homegrown. He'll still in Brazil until the end of the  2013 season. He won't go to Holland. Too much of a culture shock. He's taking English lessons for the next 6 months..If he were to go out on loan somewhere other than Brazil, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go where Piazon is going, since they know each other from the youth teams..

Alex went to the dutch league before coming to us. We seem to send a lot of our young lads from abroad to the dutch league.

Thats the one. He looked like he could have done a job. He had the right build for it.

doesnt have the brains though. hes an idiot and wont ever make it at a big club

Why do we need this Wallace when we have the young Azpi making a name for himself? He frequently makes newspapers' "team of the week" . And we have Ivan. AND Ferreira.
