Lukaku to Everton

lol i love the ninja comment.

True enough but you would say that we are currently set up for a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 of some kind. If you play two stirkers then you lose either Mata, Hazard or Oscar. You could play Mata and Hazard out wide but they arent as effective out wide. Both players are most dangerous when playing behind the striker. Oscar could drop deep but then you lose either Frank or Rami or Luiz or Mikel.

When/where did he say that?  I can't find reference to it anywhere.  I just like to check these things and new statistics I hear before they become accepted as gospel, ever since the BBC told me that domestic violence kills more women than anythi

When De Mos commented on Lukaku he was speaking to Voetbol Primeur Belgie.

I hope he does come back in the summer. Despite the influx of creativity with Mata, Hazard, and Oscar, we're still not Barca. And we're never going to be Barca. There is always going to be a fair number of crosses into the box, and long balls played over the top. We need someone who can get on the end of those. Ba does a good job, and Lukaku is even bigger.

He has some growing to do. As already mentioned, his first touch needs work. But he's still a kid.

And if we ever do go back to playing a 2 striker formation, what back line in the Premier League would be excited about slamming into Ba and Lukaku for 90 minutes?

if and its still a big if, jose returns, I can see him giving lukaku a chance as he's the sort of hard working physically imposing player that have been a fundamental part of jose' squads.

I also seem to recall him being an admirer of lukaku and real were also showing an interest in him before we signed him.

Always liked him to be honest and dont think he or sturridge were given enough game time last year, when drogba and torres were really poor in the league.

I have not seen Lukaku in action recently.

Here's what the Sparta Rotterdam coach Aad de Mos said about him.

"I am not a fan of Lukaku. He has speed and strength but he lacks the touch. His first touch is a disaster. I don't think he'll make it at Chelsea".

Ah yes, the highly respected paragon of managerial aptitude that is Aad de Mos. The only success that he's had in the past 22 years is winning the Saudi Crown Prince Cup, whatever that is.

I'm sure we'll probably buy another 20 year old striker in the summer, continue with Torres, loan out Lukaku and let him leave for £5m in a couple of years time along with a load of senior players we don't have any real cover for.

It's the future of modern football transfer dealings.

Wasn't to impressed by him at the start of he's Chelsea career to be honest he had the first touch of a rapist but he seems to be doing well out on loan I hope he gets he's chance because he's young and he's attitude is good. I'd honestly prefer him then Torres at the moment.

Spot on... Who cares what he really has to say? Its not like it is a Jose, Pep, SAF, or any other manager worth the time in actually caring so...

For me, he does lack touch but he is also 19 and lets not forget Drogba struggled a bit once coming too.

Bottom line is I hope Chelsea takes it chance with him because I think Lukaku will pay immense dividends in the future.

Agreed. There's no doubt that Lukaku's touch needs to improve. We all know it, I'm sure his coaches at West Brom know it and yet he's managed to have quite a bit of success in the Premiership as a 19 year old in spite of it. The thing that makes me confident about Lukaku succeeding is that he has shown an awareness and willingness to work on his flaws. There's no doubt that his touch is better now than it was when he first signed. Is there room yet to grow? Of course, he's 19. Aad de Mos just sounds bitter and desperate to be quoted.

Just watched him come on and have a good 20mins a great run followed by an excellent goal, why we did not recall this lad is utter madness. Oh Steve Clarke does the double over those twats well done.

Nay, with Torres around, he was always gonna be on bench. So he loses out on games, plus we wont get a player we'd get in June

I'd rather have Lukaku as our first choice striker next season than waste money on Falcao who wouldn't come close to justifying the transfer fee.

For once I'm in full agreement with you. I've got this nagging feeling that if we were to sign Falcao it just wouldn't work out.

I've said all along we need to think very carefully about signing a top-drawer striker in the summer.

Lukaku needs to come back and he needs to be given games.

His form will dip, he may not be ready to be our front-line striker just yet, but we have a superb player on our hands and it would be a crime to stifle his development by buying somebody that will impede his progress.

Edit: This boy seriously reminds me of Drogba, who remember, had many doubters even during his first two seasons at Chelsea, regarding touch, finesse, finishing etc.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I think Falcao would be a brilliant signing, overlooking the fee. I could easily see him racking up 30 premier league goals every season, he's clearly that good.

The problem is, a player of his calibre simply has to start virtually every single game, and with our current system geared around a lone striker, he would effectively freeze Lukaku out of the starting line-up for at least five years.

Do we really need a 30 goal a season striker, when Lukaku and Ba could surely rack up that tally as a rotating tandem?

I think you lot would be deluded to splash out on a new striker in the Summer instead of giving this guy a proper chance with good service.

I am a big admirer of his and his style of play.

Has the potential to be one of the best IMO

Lukaku and Feruz are our future strikers. We certainly do not have to go out and spend the money Falcao and Madrid will demand. Lets get these guys in the squad and let them play through the heartache periods so they can learn, adapt, and overcome. If we listened to some, Drogba would have been gone after his first season.

Between Moses, Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Ramires, deBruyne, Josh, Marin, Piazon, Ba, Lukaku, and Feruz we are fairly covered with players getting forward. All of these players are under 26 with majority being under 23. The future looks bright and with the proper manager (ahem, Jose) these kids will blossom into wonderful players...

The bit I've seen of Lukaku this season he has looked quite a lot sharper than his few minutes on the pitch last season. Outside of which he is now up to 10 PL goals despite often starting on the bench.

I'd definitely have him back next season because his power and bull in a china shop enthusiasm is a complete contrast to Torres and gives us a different option.

Having said that I doubt if his link up play is as good as Torres.

If we do get him back we have to give him a bunch of game time, otherwise its hopeless for everyone. Just at the moment I'd rather have Lukaku and a really good power/creative central midfielder than Falcao. But with someone like Falcao I don't really think you could tell until he was here.

It was obvious to most people Shevchenko was well past his best when he joined. I think there were a significant number that realised even at the time that Torres had issues, but on Falcao I don't know.

was great as a substitute today, had a gut busting run from inside his own half and almost scored in addition to his sweet goal...we need this kid, period!

He still lacks the first touch or the quality if it. He needs to be able to build the attack if we are going to play like we are playing. Against top teams we have the chance to counter but against most teams in Prem that is not possible.

Get the touch on Drogba level at least and we have ourselves a brilliant striker. Drogba was brilliant crosser and had good first touch Romelu looks to have similar eye for the goal.

Maybe one season with West Brom and then call him back
