July 4, 201412 yr Since it looks like we're signing Costa, it should be Costa and Lukaku as our main 2 strikers, and then probably Torres as a 3rd option if we are absoutely desperate. It should be but we saw last season Jose thought differently and I'm not sure that would be any different this season. It will be Costa, Torres then either Lukaku or another striker.
July 4, 201412 yr I would like to see him with Chelsea. However, we are talking about a kid who had posters of Drogba, Chelsea in his room. He managed to sign with his dream team Chelsea. Suddenly his dream is falling apart and he is not playing with Chelsea. How do you think he feels now? I wouldn't even like to speculate what's going on in his head. He's still just a kid really and he comes across as immature. I'd love him to sign an extension and stay with us next season. I think he will learn more being 2nd choice here, than 1st choice somewhere else. There's plenty of games, so if he's willing to be patient, and shows the same desire to have an impact off the bench, as he did against usa, then I think all parties will be happy with that. There aren't too many young strikers around at his level, and I think we would be mad to not to give him a shot.
July 4, 201412 yr Big blue, We all were young and knew it all. At least when I was 21 I thought I was the best thing since slice bread. Lol. You said it all. Let's see what happens.
July 4, 201412 yr If he's loaned out again that's it for him I feel We wont loan out if he doesnt sign a new deal. He will be sold otherwise.
July 4, 201412 yr I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Torres' deal runs out in summer of 2016, not next year. What?!?!
July 4, 201412 yr Surely we can convince someone Torres is worth it..... just take him... anyone At over £150k p/w no one will touch
July 4, 201412 yr Only way we shift Torres is if we loan him put While having to pay a bulk of his wages ourselves so I doubt that could happen.
July 4, 201412 yr While having to pay a bulk of his wages ourselves so I doubt that could happen. Send him to Vitesse.
July 4, 201412 yr While having to pay a bulk of his wages ourselves so I doubt that could happen. Yeah there lies the problem only other way is if we do what City did with Adebayor and give him a payoff
July 4, 201412 yr Can't we loan Torres to Atlético? Just bite the bullet, pay half his wages, take the losses and get rid. Like we did with Sheva, Crespo and Verón.

July 4, 201412 yr Was gonna suggest similar earlier but thought I would take a kicking for it, so backed off pressing the post button.
July 4, 201412 yr Can't we loan Torres to Atlético? Just bite the bullet, pay half his wages, take the losses and get rid. Like we did with Sheva, Crespo and Verón. No. FFP is now in place so there's no chance we will do that, before with those players it wasn't as big an issue.
July 4, 201412 yr We would actually save on his wages by loaning him out while keeping him at Chelsea has no benefits at all.
July 4, 201412 yr We would actually save on his wages by loaning him out while keeping him at Chelsea has no benefits at all. We would be paying a huge chunk of them and are you loaning him out for 2 seasons? Who's going to take him on loan and pay the bulk of 100 grand to do so every week?
July 4, 201412 yr Undertow's point still stands I think. We would be paying a percentage of his wages rather than all of it. Therefore we would be reducing our overall costs on Torres. Of course its dependant upon the percentage of his wages we met and the costs incurred on his replacement in the squad. PS your figure of £100k a week is very much on the low side if you consider the usual quoted media figure of £175k / week. Edited July 4, 201412 yr by just

I meant us paying most of the 100 odd as I don't see any team paying more than 70k a week for a striker who doesn't score...can you? We won't loan him because if we do that means we need to bring in 2 strikers if Ba and Lukaku are elsewhere
July 4, 201412 yr You never know, he might play a blinder this season, stranger things happen at sea. Been saying that every year since we signed him though Edited July 4, 201412 yr by 1905
July 5, 201412 yr Send him to Monaco. Another name for them to sell jerseys with, a nice easy league to play in and plenty of frogs legs to enjoy. If i were Torres thats what i'd do
July 5, 201412 yr I thought there was already a Torres bashing thread, must have missed it !! There was me thinking this thread was about Lukaku.
