June 24, 201412 yr I'm going to be accused of being your alt account again. PS. It doesn't sit right with most people and you'd expect him to bottle it up and put on a professional demeanour but there is still far worse reactions he could have had. Edited June 24, 201412 yr by Stim
June 24, 201412 yr The Queen of Belgium met the Belgium squad after their game against Russia. She congratulated Lukaku on scoring the winner... He had to admit he wasn't even on the pitch at the time. Awkward. Terrible, she doesn't even have the excuse of being old and out-of-touch. I was expecting a half-blind centenarian who believed that Belgium still owned large parts of central Africa. Bloody toffs...

She would have been given a 10 match ban for racism in the UK.
June 24, 201412 yr She would have been given a 10 match ban for racism in the UK. I dunno, it's not really any worse than this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26699009 He was back refereeing one week later, three weeks after that he was in charge of an FA Cup semi-final.
June 24, 201412 yr U wouldn't hold that against him to be honest, there's every chance he was angry at himself for such a poor showing. It was a bit petulant but I prefer that sometimes to players coming of happy and smiley after being sh*t. I'd be more concerned if he was happy with himself after his performance. Good points you two. Say! Has anyone seen these 2 in the same room at the same time?????!!!!! Seriously though, I want my strikers arrogant and cocky but his reaction left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe it's coupled with some of his quotes (which may have been taken out of context) but the whole thing seems so childish. At the end of the day I want the player to be given a chance to prove himself on our squad over a season. I just hope he takes the opportunity and makes something out of it. June 24, 201412 yr In the space of a season I've gone from thinking he was our future to not caring if he leaves. The endless petulance and stupid press interviews have just gotten too much. I really don't know what it is with the new batch of belgian players, I'm starting to feel the same about Courtois too, and De Bruyne ended up being a huge letdown.
June 24, 201412 yr Its not just his international showing of course, his mouth is bigger than he himself, which is some feat to accomplish.
June 24, 201412 yr He wouldn't even have started a World Cup game if Benteke was fit. He is a better player at this stage of his career. Lukaku if you look closely, even at Everton hardly ever closes down opponents and tends to wait for the ball to come to him. He does make decent runs at times and also cuts in well from right to left but he still has a lot to learn and the success he had in the Premiership last season clearly has gone to his head thus reflecting the negative press coming his way. A lot of people were hoping he would come crashing down to earth in the World Cup and it has happened big time. He will throw away a promising Chelsea career unless he becomes more humble, realises how privileged he was to be signed by us at such a young age and knuckles down to prove to everyone he is worth a place in our 1st team squad.

Excellent points fella.
July 1, 201412 yr Certainly Lukaku being dropped it won't help him being with Chelsea squad in the next season.
July 1, 201412 yr But he's the "complete striker" now!!! How can that be?!Exactly! The boy will eat some humble pie tonight. Only good for him. Let your playing do the talking, shut up.
July 1, 201412 yr Certainly Lukaku being dropped it won't help him being with Chelsea squad in the next season. Hopefully it brings his head out of the clouds and shows him he still has a long way to go. It could be the best thing thats happened to him as long as his attitude is right. Get his head down, work even harder to prove people wrong. Or sulk and pout and dissappear down the league.

Martinez said he instructed Lukaku to play like that, wants him to focus more on attacking.

Or it could work the opposite way, he could come of the bench and score a winning goal via a penalty, then run over to the corner flag to pull his shirt off and beat his chest, then were back to square one.

July 1, 201412 yr This Origi lad looks really good. No surprise Wilmots started him instead of Lukaku. His first touch is miles ahead of Lukaku's.
